This whole situation surrounding Andy Dawson stinks to the high heavens!.

Essentially he's been flung under a bus by a dithering owner who clearly doesn't know what the **** he's going to do to get us out of the mire we're in.It's been said on numerous occasions by numerous posters...Andy Dawson runs the risk of ending up with the sum total of **** all, except a huge dollop of egg running down his chin at the end of his 'temporary' salvage operation. It's akin to White Star Line parachuting a new captain onto the stricken titanic... "Go on son, sort this mess out and if you're successful, you're still getting ousted and I'll get a mate in to take the credit"

He's been a great servant to this Club over the years and he really doesn't deserve to be put in the position he's in at present!!

I think the moaning and criticism is a little dramatic and unfair. And typical City tbh, this negativity really is the one thing that grates about my fellow City fans, both here and at the MKM!

The team played some of their best football this season at times in the first half. However, it seems to me the confidence has gone from our defence, which is leading to the silly penalty giveaways. Perhaps that’s why Stockdales come in? And for me, we really missed Coyle after the second goal. Yes, he may not be the most technically gifted player we have but he’s been working bloody hard past few matches, as well has driving things on. I reckon he’d have helped keep some heads focused to pull back in the second half. Doc did his best, had the wind right up his tail but we need that from all of them.

Dawsons doing ok as far as I’m concerned. He’s got this mixed bag of player who just weren’t jelling under Shota. How on earth do we expect him to suddenly fix things in a couple of weeks? I think being closer to the players he’s better at communicating his plan, and he’s been brave enough to try some different things too. He’s trying to do the pressing game that pleases the owner and the fans - there are glimpses of it but the fitness and team understanding isn’t there yet.

I wish the crowd would do more, even just the usual roster of city till I die/silverware I don’t care/Andy give us a wave/We’re the north stand etc. . We could muster up some booing for the pound shop Fellaini but very little for our lads, which I think is poor.

I actually agree with you, I enjoyed the first half, even though Greaves gave away the penalty. I've said this before Greave's way of defending corners is trying to block the run by shirt-pulling of who he is marking, he doesn't attack the ball. I know on this occasion he was not a centre back, but he does it all the time even when he is. This was a penalty to be given in the waiting, coaches need to get him out of the habit.

As I have already said above I enjoyed the first half and we played some decent football, I had no complaints at half time, apart from Greave's giving away the penalty, which was stupid, but bound to happen as he does it a lot.

They came out in the 2nd half to try and get the 2nd goal and succeeded, game over, after that we never laid a glove on them, they managed the game very well. Goals change games, we were unfortunate to not get at least one in the first half which would have changed the mindset if we had.

    Positives.

The north stand defended their 2nd penalty very well by putting off Deeney.
Figgy look better in this game than before.
Seri had a good game, he is quality.
Oscar with little service and Docherty tried hard.
    Jarvis looks better than Williams.

    Negatives

Greaves was poor again, I think he needs to be taken out for a game or two.
Tofan and Sinik huffed and puffed.
The rest all their heads went down after the 2nd goal.

We desperately need a coach to come in and sort this lot out, and we need, as I have said before a defensive midfielder who can do all the dirty stuff as well as a dominant centre-half Faye type.

1%, 2%? What’s the xG of penalties conceded for shirt pulling?

Not reading the rest of the thread, so apologies if (as expected) this has been said many times. Agree with above about first half. It was the best we've played all season and gives us hope that we can turn the corner. At times, it was breathtaking. I was happy at half-time. The other noticable thing foe me about the first half was Christie. Had a great half. Broke up their attacks lot and was involved in numerous attacks down the right.

Greaves and Sinik were the only exception to this Greaves looked totally out of his comfort zone on the left both going forward, and defending. Birmingham took advantage of this, presumably after a half time chat and the game subsequently proved to be over.

Fortunately, for me, I had a youngish chap waxing lyrical about Hull City teams of yore behind me. Apparently Jackson Irvine would have sorted our defence out

He also had extended conversations about how his friend invites him to Man City home matches (sat in the Yellow Wall? Never heard of it) and some rugby match where it was 60-6? Fun times.

Other highlights were cashing out on my Arsenal, Chelsea/Man City acculator when Man City were 0:0 at half-time.

For about the 3rd home match in a row, I've had to loudly explain to those around me that anyone who boos their own team is a ****.

And there lies a huge chunk of the problem.... first they had to get used to playing Shotas way, which for some was after having to play the McCann way. Now they have to learn to play the Dawson way and in a few weeks a new mans way.... Think Watford...

Lastly, can someone explain to me, why as the home team, we play the second half ( chasing the game ) not facing our own fans ( you know what I mean) ... or do we lose every coin toss too...

Don’t worry, all we need is just a couple more players.

    Right?

No idea but refs are spotting it and it's a stupid risk to take

Ref’s must surely know he does it by now and even if it’s only subconsciously they’ll spot it more because of that?

Anyway I didn’t go, and didn’t watch it either, so can’t comment on the game.

I wouldn't call it moaning or criticism per se.

There's a genuine concern that our current level of form/results is extremely worrying and if it were to continue we will drop into the bottom 3,that's a hard place to get back out of when confidence is low and our defence is suspect at best.We might've played some decent football at times but that makes it even more of a concern that we're not capitalising on it.

As for Andy Dawson, his effort isnt under scrutiny here,he is trying his best and he undoubtedly has far better man management skills than Shota Arveladze but the owner is on the hunt for someone to take over on a full time basis so what happens to him when he's replaced?I

We're in a mess at the moment and we need 11 players on the pitch putting 100% in for 90 minutes...We're not getting that and it's a concern.

We have some good technical players, who sadly lack the intensity, physicality and demands of 46 game a season championship football. Its a recruitment issue that is all too apparent after 14 games. It will come as no surprise to anyone that dropping into the bottom three will require a monumental task to get out of. But with the right recruitment at the top its do able.
Not that it's relevant to City, Mitrovic pulled the B'mouth player down.

We had far too many people backing out of challenges etc. in that second half compared to Birmingham's players who had total unity and a big desire to win.

Pelkas made that one challenge in the first half near the corner flag and then literally backed out of every single challenge all game. It's only a personal opinion but we can't afford passengers like him when we don't have the ball and we are on a bad run like we are. He doesn't offer enough with the ball to warrant doing f**k all without it.

Although I like Sinik in the glimpses we have seen of him, he was miles off it today, same with Tufan (who I think does usually work harder than people give him credit for).

I think judging by his post match and the comments of Doc a few home truths have been said to some... AD has nothing to lose in that regard, he's not getting the job permanently and I think he;'s as pained by whats he's seeing as the rest of us...

Further down the line and if his ambition is to manage at this level or above ,then it stands to reason that his C.V could be tarnished by a string of bad results, caretaker or not..
