In a press conference earlier he said "Im ruling Rachubka out of next couple of games but im not saying hes never going to play for club again" Honestly in my opinion if Rachubka plays for Leeds again then I will give up my season ticket!!!!
If he does really well in training and practice matches and restores his confidence, pushing Lonergan for his place, I won't mind. But if he gets played again and looks like the wreck he currently is, yeah, serious anger in store. Don't think Grayson's wrong to deny he'll never play for us again though. We don't need a pissed off Lancastrian in the dressing room creating disharmony because he's been exiled from the first team.
Really can't see Rachubka playing again this side of the new season, certainly not for Leeds. We have McCarthy / Cairns for the next 4 games at least. We then have Lonergan & Cairns. I would imagine the McCathy loan move has options for extending if required. So that could take us past Christmas. If, & after Wednesday its a big if, the loan works & McCathy impresses, would we look to sign him as No 2 to Lonergan? Who knows, but that reduces Rachubka's chances of playing even further, as would regular performances by Cairns if we're winning well when Lonergan gets back. As I said somewhere else, Wednesday could just prove to be a blessing in disguise.
Looks like a loan spell might do him good then. New surroundings, new confidence. Just the small matter of finding someone who'll take him on after that mauling!
He could have said he thinks he can bounce back from it, but it's ridiculous to say you've got faith in somebody you brought off at half-time for an 18 year old, then have him behind a 21 year old 3rd choice goalkeeper from another club.
He's done the right thing pulling him out of the spotlight. His confidence will be in the tank and he'll take a while getting it back. He's too much of a liability to get it back by playing first team football. Sometimes I think you bypass the bleeding obvious on purpose.
Don't be silly. He has long-term faith. In the short-term, the man needs a break from the limelight. Not that hard for "the reasonable man in the street" to understand.
If he works hard in training, and is impressing, then Lonergran gets another injury, he should get a chance. He definitely shouldn't play the next few games, and he was right to be taken off at half time. His confidence needs to recover, but after the anger has settled, I don't want to say that he never plays for the club again. He was always going to be a back up keeper, so if he recovers from this - maybe game time on loan somewhere - then I wouldn't be against him covering for Lonergran again.
He will be sent out on loan to L1 or L2, play 10 or 15 games come back in time to be sold in the summer, probably for less than a packet of snaps to the club he was on loan to.
