Really interesting read Pilgrim and obviously something you are very passionate about. Thanks for the post
Much appreciated Pilgrim, thank you for your candid response to a film that i had a little but not as in depth knowledge of the club and it's internal running's like yourself. The bottom line I got from the film was money, and you need it now more than at any other time in the world of topflight sport. You only have to take a look over at your rivals Barca and the mess they have gotten themselves in to... Thanks again...
I've forgotten something rather curious about the Figo documentary. Apart from the fact that it seems to me to have a rather obvious Barcelona bias, it's curious that on Figo's return to the Camp Nou wearing the Madrid shirt and where they threw everything at him, including glass bottles, the most famous thing they threw at him was a piglet's head, which from that moment on became iconic. Surprisingly, this image does not appear in the documentary. I leave here a photo that immortalised the moment. please log in to view this image
Haha, i remember that, the famous pig head on the pitch. Who takes a pig's head to a match to throw at a player, and how did he get it in...!!?? Saying that, i was on the Kop when Rooney scored against us and a bloke threw one of those very early mobile phones at him, the ones that needed to be carried round with a battery pack... He missed him...
Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel then - can’t help thinking it’s a bit premature so early in the season. Sounds like he lost the dressing room though
A dumb dumb decision by Boehly and his American gang. Why oh why do we allow American owners access into European Association Football, of which they know bugger-all about? Can you see Bayern Munich, for an obvious example, ever allowing this? The answer is a nuclear NO, no bloody way. As one reporter commented, "one very lucky European club is going to get one of the world's best managers". Thomas Tuchel will not be out of a job for long. The current Brighton manager should stay with the club he has done so well with. Forget the Chelsea job; for which I understand he is a favoured candidate?
Oddy: Good article on Telekom's t-online.de site, "Have You Lost Your Mind?", an opinion by Benjamin Zurmühl in which he spells-out what Thomas Tuchel has done for the club.
Well, Potter did take the job along with his full team. It's a terrific gamble by Potter, but I wish him well in one of football's most difficult jobs. I do feel very sorry for John Bloom and Brighton, but glad they are getting the compensation package from Chelsea for the upheaval.
It will be interesting to see how Potter gets on at Chelsea as he was talked up as the possible next Arsenal manager before Arteta and a future England manager. I would imagine the England job is a pipe dream for him right now but something he would love to do in the future. The thing is, Chelsea could see him damaged good if he dosnt at least get a trophy on the table very soon...!! I wish him all the luck in the world personally but don't want too much success as his team is one of those clubs i can't be doing with...!!
That's alright, Stick, they have a right c### of an owner too. I see Jürgen Klopp tried to talk some sense into Todd Boehly just a few hours ago, but his wise words no doubt fell on deaf ears. Yanks know f***-all about Association Football, and never will. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp unimpressed with Todd Boehly's 'All-Star Premier League game' idea - BBC Sport
Strange character but he has done very well for himself .i remember him from school (same year not giving away my age lol) not that i had much to do with him . There has been a few football success from that school just a shame i was not one of them . But you are right he will now need to prove himself with the biggest club in his career . I should not wish him luck as he started out with blues but i will .
Wouldn't say Potter is a 'strange character', but I feel he could well have bitten off more than he can chew with Chelsea, after doing wonders with Brighton. His successes in Norway in earlier days were also quite astounding. Just hope he hasn't spoiled an excellent CV? Don't envy him, as I wouldn't trust Todd Boehly as far as I could throw him! Awful, greedy man.
Good to see Sivas gaining an important away victory against CFR Cluj in the Europa Conference League #toomuchfootball
Great news for QPR faithful. It has been confirmed that Mike Beale has rejected Wolves advances, and will stay with the R's. Good man, I have great admiration for Mike Beale in making this decision. For myself, could hardly be happier. As I said on the QPR thread, will crack open a bottle of Christmas champers a bit early.
Very refreshing in this day and age to see such loyalty still exists. We will have bumps in the road but let’s hope our owners show him the same amount of respect when those events occur #weretopoftheleague
Ronnie Radford, scorer of one of the most iconic goals in FA Cup history, has died at the age of 79. Who can forget that cannonball of a shot, his arms raised, his shirt not quite long enough, Motson's disbelief, and the mud. RIP Ronnie.
Wow England have just smashed India all over the park to reach the T20 world cup final. Chasing 169 to win, Buttler and Hales knocked them off with 4 overs to spare. Awesome display
As a T20 match result goes, that is one hell of a stuffing...!! Great hitting, Hales should have been back in the starting line up sooner that his return...
