Some big guns from the Elliott yard out today at Down Royal - a meeting he likes to target. American Mike, Pied Piper, Mighty Potter and Better Days Ahead should all oblige - won't make you rich though.

Meanwhile Thyme Hill goes chasing at Exeter and the Haldon Gold Cup should be a good race.

Very nice chase debut for Mighty Potter there - especially over the last 2 when they turned on the taps. Didn't jump every fence perfectly but will come on for that.

What a round of jumping by Greaneteen - proper Grade 1 performance that off a mark of 168. Jumped beautifully.

Grade 1 performance? He beat loads of other over handicapped yokes. He probably gets lapped in any "proper" Grade 1 race this season.

Dual Grade 1 winner last season. Couldn't give weight to Shishkin at Kempton and clearly didn't travel well to Ireland. He's not a freak like Energumene or (hopefully still) Shishkin but that performance would have won plenty of grade 1 Chases down the years.

He won about the weakest ever tingle creek and beat an old hurdler in the other one. Today he beat Dolos, how many horses are more poorly handicapped than that horse? Wasn’t he beaten 30 lengths in a handicap at Aintree?

he probably didn’t even run to his mark today, beat one horse and the others were far below their marks.

It just shows how ****e UK racing has become.

I'm sure we'll see him against Edwardstone and Shishkin at Sandown next month (assuming the stars are correctly aligned for Mr Henderson and a black cat doesn't cross his path on the way to the course). I get what you are saying and agree he isn't anywhere near the top table - I would have him in the same bracket as perhaps Dodging Bullets, Finian's Rainbow and Sire de Grugy. But they are all grade 1 horses somehow - just not beasts like Sprinter or Altior or Shishkin.

Really did fancy Brickadank too today, but swerved because of poor price. Very lucky 'cos it ran like a drain to finish 8th of 14. As for MS, the market knew and let it go at 66/1. Still, rank longshots do win, but not too often.

Yank racing doesnt really do it for me but I’d love to see the Haynes lass prevail with Lady Hollywood over in Keeneland. What a story that would be in her first year as a trainer. A few shekels ew at 33s.

2yos doing well in Keenland. Meditate wins the fillies turf mile and colts 1st, 2nd and 4th in turf sprint. Silver Knott fav for the turf mile next. Could be an amusing commentary

Silver Knott flew home on the inside but was nabbed on the line by Victoria Road. Another 1,2 for Britain. Double for Aiden O'Brien and Ryan Moore

    I
My bet of the day was to the limit at 40s for sevetal reasons but that rank outsider was withdrawn . Not seen brikadanks run yet but it did look set for a good run as for ms and all outsiders its the consistancy that lets them down , but having said that there is always a day in the enclosure for them . The hard part is picking the right day . One reason i generally swerve big days /meetings as they all want the prizes on offer . Saturdays i generally just placepot and scoop 6 tote offer a free pound bet on the place pot i feel it would be rude not to abuse there generosity . As for the ellusive scoop 6 , numerous times i have hit 5 and no place but i do enjoy doing it . I blame Reebs for my £2 stake loss and my better halfs dart throwing skills who has also hit 5 wins ! How i dont know but thats luck . Probrably a good job she didnt get 6 i would never live it down.
