Bring back the sash kit to make Gallardo feel like he’s at home in River Plate. Anything, please.

I sort of hope this happens now. Partly because I have a good feeling about this manager I hadn’t heard of until an hour or so ago, but also because the meltdown will truly be something to behold.

I don't want him, but I'll certainly give him a chance. The morons on Twitter on the other hand, will meltdown Chenobyl style and it will be highly amusing to witness.

It would be hilarious and somewhat embarrassing if Jones turned us down (not that I think he would).

Always give something new a chance. But doesn’t give the fans a great deal of confidence. Not actually made any good sporting decisions have they yet sporting republic. Signed ketchup and lavia - first team improvements that about it. Didn’t get a new manager in, weird coach changes instead, fail. No striker signed, fail. Signed a recruitment guy that immediately left, fail. Bought a bigger club than us in turkey, fail! Haha
Not sure I trust their judgement at present!

There might be a realistic thought train from the club that says, if we do go down this year then we need someone who knows the Championship and can get us back up. Maybe they think Jones would fare better than Mauricio Fancypantsio.

Not a popular or inspiring train of thought, but would be a bit of a win-win/ lose-win-win. If we stay up then great, if we go down then further management change isn't needed. Woth noting that if we do go down then Fancypantsio may not want to stick around?

I'm neither for, nor against at this stage btw, just trying to give a balanced view (if that's allowed on here!! :emoticon-0136-giggl)

No because he's been gone too long.

His record at Luton is evidently impressive. I know little about him but have been reading a little this morning. Are there any extenuating circumstances re: Stoke?

If I recall, Poch has a pretty poor ending at Espanyol but it was in part due to them selling the crown jewels every year and not replacing them. If Nathan Jones has the style of football and coaching credentials that Ankerson et.al are looking for then it would make more sense than just gunning for a manager that doesn't fit our ethos (e.g. Benitez)

Whoever comes in, I will support them and give them the time to prove their credentials. Poch had an instant impact and that was after following Adkins that no-one wanted to see go.

Seen a fair few (mates with a hatter) and he is a good manager that plays entertaining football. He has also taken Luton from L2 to being in the hunt for play offs and premier league promotion on a small budget - we shouldn't underestimate how big an achievement that actually is. I have no worries on that front.

My worry is that going from Luton to a relegation battle with an inexperienced Saints side with no goalscorer is a huge jump. The last time he stepped up it failed badly too.

This. It's the sort of appointment you would rather see between seasons. If it works than great but if not the board are going to be faced with a lot of unhappy fans. It feels like too big a gamble to me but hopefully I'm wrong.
