Two falls in a week. No alcohol involved in the first one. Had taken Kenny for a long walk and thought I'll call for a couple of pints before the 3 pm kick off. Got close to the Cheese and was squeezing through two advertising boards outside the pub. He was already through. A bloke came out of the pub with his dog, Kenny lurched and I caught my foot on one of the stands, falllng foeward and landing on my chest. I immediately knew I'd broken/bruised ribs.

Second was defo alcohol orientated. Went to see Blancmange with my mate and eldest daughter. Got back to Warrington Central and fell getting off the train, landing on my left elbow. Also did my groin and neck at the same time <grr> Went to A&E last Thursday and it was rammed. Waiting time to see a doctor around 14 hours <yikes> In the end, it was a lot quicker after the initial triage. It's in a cast now. Just before I left, the nurse said I should answer any private number calls on my phone as it could be a call from the hospital following a consultant's review on Friday morning. I had the call and am seeing a consultant surgeon tomorrow afternoon, so I suspect I'll be in sooner rather than later. They'll want to deal with it before the healing gets too advanced. Having seen the X ray, I suspect it'll need pinning. Need constant pain relief currently. With all the other **** going on in my life at the mo, I can ill afford this **** <doh>

    Get well soon mate,

some lads on here would do well to actually pay a bit of attention rather than post drivel.

So you should say you survived a train accident. Sounds more impressive while technically being true.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds a painful week. Puts my, getting my foot cold and wet by testing a log across the creek to see if it was rotten to shame. (Yes, it was rotten... My foot went through it like it was t there).

I figured it must be metal, it's just the picture looked like zip ties at first glance.

Hope it doesn't cause her any pain anymore. I'm sure going through metal detectors is annoying.

She only has 65% use of her left arm, luckily she is right handed. It does restrict her using lab equipment and the University trained a lab technician to assist her. She has also had 3 months added to her PHD for the time she lost having treatment. It gives her pain in cold weather but otherwise not to bad. She had fun at the airport when she flew to Dublin to give a talk at a conference there.

Glad she's mostly better, but awful only 65% usage of arm. Any hope for gaining more mobility back with time?

Apparently not, once the muscle/skin grows around the repair you are pretty much stuck at that level. She has to keep doing the physio exercises though to maintain the use she has.

There is a scar on her arm as they had to cut through the skin/muscle to access the elbow, but it is just a straight line scar about 6 inches long. Does not look nice but there is no other way of getting at the break, her elbow was shattered as well so a lot of wire in there.
