I hope Dale Vince is better at running Ecotricity than he is as running Forest Green Rovers (£5.4m in debt, bottom of League One, -22 goal difference).

If he really supports the hard Left anarchists at “Just Stop Oil” then he should go to Riyadh and glue himself to the road outside Aramco. They are just a bunch of losers doing nothing for any cause by annoying people in this country.

I’m sure the value of the ground, a football league club and all other assets make him care one iota about the 5.4 million you’ve mentioned.

As the right honourable member for QPR has also stated (in more polite terms), it’s got another gammon enraged, so seemingly it is having an impact .

They have lots of people talking about them in a negative way that does nothing for their supposed cause. If they get in my way I will just run them over. They are a bunch of lunatic anarchists who seem to think that vandalising the nation’s artworks and causing traffic congestion is going to save the planet.

I see that yesterday a bunch of them posted a photo online of them sitting outside a London pub having a pint while they were being followed around by a huge number of police. In Sadiq Khan’s London, the police have no crime to investigate so they may as well just follow Just Stop Oil losers around in their vans burning more petrol.

I might not agree with their tactics but at least they are trying to do something about what they perceive as a major world problem and issue. Peaceful protest has been proven time and again to get nothing. Positive action on the other hand.....
It is good to see that when slightly inconvenienced your course of action would be to commit attempted murder. They of course would probably wish you to be successful as that would only positively enhance their cause.
You are of course talking bollocks because we all know that when faced with this situation you would do bugger all other than seethe!
It's good to see the constabulary getting out there on the beat. We wouldnt want to be wasting their time on such trivia as house burglary and car theft now would we.

What on earth has happened to England? Free-flowing football and 6 goals against Iran and then turgid, defensive, almost frightened football. I don't understand it. I think they all need a good shag.

Doubt very much if they'll get that in Qatar.<whistle>. However, they weren't too bad against Wales tonight; Rashford was outstanding. Have a lot of respect for Wales as a sports nation, but some of their younger players were very disrespectful to England, as were the German press after the USA game (ze Germans have nothing to shout about either). A bit of humble pie won't do them any harm?
England's first game in the knock-out stage on Sunday against Senegal is a real tough one. The African champions are a damn good squad, and I am not surprised they are doing so well.

Jermaine Jenas has been excellent in his commentary support on the BBC. Had to laugh at whoever was sitting next to Shearer last night. Discussing the woeful performances of Ramsay and Bale, he said that Bale had to continue to play as he was without doubt the greatest Welsh footballer ever. You'll never be any good if you don't realise that Wales once had a great team, built around one of the finest footballers to ever kick a ball. Even Italians of a certain age will tell you that.

Agree 100%. Bale cannot hold a candle to the great J.C. I am sure Juventus fans of that era remember him with the greatest affection. A footballing God, in fact. Didm't hear that person's comment myself, but from what you say it was indeed a load of bollox about Bale.

Straying a little from ‘Other Sport’ here...

Just Stop Oil was founded by a hard Left anarchist Roger Hallam and I doubt very much whether he is that bothered about climate change; just bringing down society. Saint Greta has also showed her anti-Capitalist colours lately. Throwing soup at the nation’s works of art is surely attempted criminal damage and sitting in the middle of the M25 is obstructing the highway, so the police should be doing a bit more than standing around observing. Give them ten years in a prison powered by wind turbines and solar panels on the roof.

I am unlikely to be slightly inconvenienced as I am 200 miles away from the cretins. If they really believed in their cause then they would be prepared to be martyred for it. Of course they are totally delusional as there is no prospect of us doing away with fossil fuels in the next 50 years. With the high pressure system over the UK this week, renewables have been providing less than 5 per cent of our energy while gas is providing 60 per cent. Any politician claiming they can go Net Zero by 2030 is a liar. The technology is not there at realistic cost and electric vehicles are the preserve of the rich.

I had to laugh last week when the Humberside Police chief was on the local BBC Look North being interviewed about how the force had been congratulated by the ombudsman for its excellence. I have had three dealings with them over the years with no results: when I had a virtually new bicycle stolen nine days before Xmas, they reckoned it would just show up in a few days (of course it never did and it did not need Sherlock Holmes to figure it out); when I was burgled, they never visited but phoned me up about a week later to tell me that they were taking no further action as they did not think there was any chance of getting a conviction; and when I was assaulted and ended up in hospital, I could not tell them who did it and there was no CCTV so that case is still open gathering dust 18 years later. I expect that back in the summer Humberside Police were out on the streets boogying with the queers on the Pride march because their diversity and inclusivity officer said it would be good public relations. So why do some of us think that we should just take the law into our own hands?

Actually, it would be quite wrong of me to take the p**s out of the German team's ignoble exit from the World Cup in Qatar. My wife and friends down here would never, and have never, done this to me, and, believe me, they've had plenty of opportunies in the past, for sure.

So, will try my best to be constructive, although I do realise many expert forum members will disagree with me.

On paper, the German squad 'looked' world class, with many fine footballers included, but let's start with the real 'fly in the ointment', the odious and creepy 'Director/Manager, Oliver Bierhoff. He happily takes credit when things go right, and backs-out when things go wrong. All the clown could say this time after the exit was " how annoying". The German football fans have finally had enough of him and definitely want him out, but that will be hard to do. He sits on his throne where he feels untouchable.
The German Board of Directprs need to call a meeting immediately and take steps to chuck this Bierhoff miscreant out.

Some random notes on the German squad players:
Manuel Neuer: Not the goalkeeper he once was, and must make way for the guy with the fancy name, Marc-André ter Stegen.
Jamal Musiala: A brilliant young player, and is absolitely world-class already.
Kai Havertz: Played well in the tournament and proved one of the best in the squad.
    Ilkay Gundogan: --ditto--
Antonio Rudiger: Certainy disappointed in his defensive duties.
Leroy Sané: Highly talented footballer. Didn't think he was at his best though.
Serge Gnabry: Played his heart out for the team, a fine footballer.

    That'll do for now!

To the England squad. Never been a great fan of Southgate, but he has done well so far with a very talented squad. However, disappointed me greatly against the USA, where I thought he was just a wee bit 'chicken.sh1t'? Mind you, this USA outfit are playing well, and would be no surprise to see them make it to, say, the semi-finals?

That's enough blah-blah from me, I hope I have not bored you all too much!

Have a good weekend, and prayers for a good result on Sunday! <ok>

Fairly straightforward for England tonight but France next will be much tougher. Mbappe pretty much unstoppable.

Good result in the end but the first 30 odd minutes were dreadful. Slow and laborious with Maguire and Stones having most of the ball which is never good for us. Senegal clearly had a plan to press us up top and when we went a bit more direct with a bit of pace the game was transformed. I have to say this fad of pissing around at the back by most teams bemuses me. The Aussies probably wish they had opted for the direct approach. Their keeper thought he could dribble past 2 Argie forwards.
