Problem with these idiots is that none of them get what the real problem is and that's the increasing population around the world, stopping oil is idiotic as we are reliant on oil for all kinds of products way beyond just fuel, might just as well stop electricity and watch the complete collapse of civilization.

I don’t know what the big French lad was saying, but I liked his style. Sadly he’ll probably be in jail now though.

People like to think it’s increasing population but it’s actually not. Increasing population is happening mostly in developing countries but they use little energy compared to the developed world. Most of energy consumption in developing world is through industrial expansion.

Three things need to happen before we can get near a global net zero situation:
    1) developed world needs to agree how to compensate developing world for cost of converting to low carbon economies, effectively compensating them for the damage we did when we were at our industrial peak
    2) developed world needs to come up with incentives for population to go low carbon - subsidies on electric cars, penalties for using fossil fuels etc
    3) a global system of energy trading in renewables needs needs to be agreed to so that energy is produced where it most cost effective and consumed where needed. To do that we have to be able to store and transport produced energy efficiently.

Unfortunately I don’t think any of this is going to happen until we recognise it’s a global issue that needs resolving globally.

Agreed. It has to be a global solution and western countries have to accept it’s going to cost them to implement a global solution. Western countries can deal with their own carbon issues relatively easily as little demand growth is forecast there. Energy useage growth is all down to China, India, Brazil, Indonesia etc. And how do you get them to accept that they have to forego their own natural resources to help the world.

Modelling shows that climate change is more likely to impact temperate climate countries than tropical ones. So why should they sacrifice their growth to help the rest of the world.

It’s an extremely complex issue but the World needs to realise it’s everybody’s problem and everybody has to help to fix it.

Let's be honest, we are going to destroy our world one way or another. Whether it's over population, energy consumption, deforestation, nuclear war, or whatever. It's just all a matter of time.

So we need to focus on the single most important thing, i.e. whether we get to see NUFC win some trophies first.

Exactly. That’s what’s missing today the ability to prioritize what’s important and what’s not. Well done you Fat, fuel guzzling, wood burning, randy mad man.
