That's the $64,000 question. Potter would have been the obvious candidate, but that's not happening now.

That would probably be for the best. It might force the FA's hand to go left field with an appointment - they aren't brave enough to sack him

We beat WBA on Monday and on a high, it's obvious the FA are going to offer Mowbray the job.

I'm okay with that, as long as he lasts more that 1 game.

Really? Why? Because he missed the penalty? That’s the reason we’re out. Not because of Southgate.

That's painful. It's painful because we were genuinely the best squad left if we'd got past the French. It's painful because we weren't outplayed and we didn't outplay them. In truth it was a poor game of football and we were just unlucky in the key moments.

Eddie howe for next manager, no ref from a nation who's team has went out of the world cup should be allowed to ref a match, as that biased get wanted us out it stinks of sour grapes.

The way the world cup was going, just like euros last year, this realistically was a genuine change to win. Personally I don't think we'll come close again. imo,France will retain. Champions find a way to win when they aren't playing well.

He's certainly set us up to go further, but doesn't have the ability to do it himself.

There's always the chance that this is as good as it gets, but going out in exactly the same timid manner three tournaments in a row when we've got the players we have isn't acceptable. If we'd run at France all game we'd have a different result. You've got to be brave in order to win things. We show the big teams far too much respect.

I wasnt, Southgate lacks tactical judgement and the price was paid. I thought we did OK but we will never have a better chance of winning this tin pot again, but we live in hope. Highlight of the game for me was Loris consoling Kane who I thought had a wonderfull tournament and that is what I will remember ubtil the next time.

I'll regret asking this but are you suggesting that the referee was biased against England cause his nation got knocked out and were no longer in the tournament? Was he Brazilian or summit?
Surely he would be equally biased to France if that was only reason?

He was absolutely ****e and missed a few decisions! His nation being in tournament had nothing to do with that, more likely to be the fact that English are generally disliked!

On who'll take over - I think that over the years we've gotten used to mid tier appointments because we couldn't get anyone any better. Even big names like Sven and Capello had notable questions about their quality.

This England squad should have every top class manager on the planet thinking the job might be worth their time.
