Maybe I’m being delusional but I think it’s refreshing to see us playing with some proper fight! I think Connolly has been okay and getting himself involved. His first touch has been poor that’s all. I think if anything, Oscar has been slower to react out of the two. I’ve underestimated Sheff Utd (although always been a big fan of Berge) but other than that, I’m not feeling at all negative about this. Tufan and Tetteh to come on and let’s av em!
H-T 1-0. We've been given a bit of a beating here. Change it for the second half, if not then expect **** all from this. Tufan and Tetteh on from the restart. Anything else is stupid. If you don't want to win then what's the point?
After the first 3 minutes, it's been pretty even, after going behind so early have at least stayed in the game. I certainly like Connolly he makes a nuisance of himself, Seri after a slow start is starting to play well. Still in it.
Ita great that we've come here and actually had a go as it really does show where we are. The improvement in such a short amount of time under LR is great and we're a decent side. But it's nights like this where the players who aren't up to it stick out like a sore thumb. The goal pissed me off as it was Slaters man, he missed out on a 50/50 and then didn't follow him
Oscar's no target man, the ball just doesn't stick to him. If LR wants to play two up front then Tetteh has to be that man and Oscar plays off him. Now THAT would be a forward pairing.
This one is working http://thegentleclass.com/hya2/ It's from here https://www.totalsportek.soccer/Sheffield-United-vs-Hull-City/6301
Listening on Umbersard and it sounds like we're second to everything and can't create anything to threaten them.
They were the same at our place, best team I’ve seen at the mkm. It was like they had an extra man at times
Connolly had a real golden opportunity just minutes after they scored, but tbf Sheffield have been the more threatening, there are small bits for optimism, but we need more quality, that's obvs for all to see
I agree with Slater. He puts in a shift but he's having a real rough patch right now. Hope he can turn it around though
Just had a look at the Fail. The headline match is Rovers at Featherstone. What a joke of a paper it is.
They're playing with a squad that has players they paid a combined total of over £35m for. Our back line, for example, consists of a free transfer from Fleetwood, an academy player (albeit a very good one), a £100k lad from Southampton reserves and a £100,000 lad from Cork City. They're effectively a Premier League team because the quality of their squad will more than likely see them finish in the top three whereas ours will no doubt see us finish mid table (which is fine by me, by the way). A team like ours, which is made up of some very good, quality players and some who helped us get promoted from League One, isn't anywhere near that in quality. For us to get to where they are in terms of consistency will take at least another season's worth of transfer windows, or one almighty huge one in Summer. It's not that we can't beat them, but to me playing the likes of Burnley and Sheffield United, with the parachute payments and Premier League signings they have feels like a bigger gap than it used to be, down in no small part to the previous three seasons of "competitive budgeting" we've had to endure. We're in this, and that's testament to how well Liam Rosenior is doing with this group of players. But the pigs haven't even got out of second gear, if anything they're playing with complacency and we can punish that, hopefully before they get their act together.
