There's similarities and differences. For example the game we all saw Allayhar play wing back was in a game we played a back 3 so notably he had cover from the left sided CB. Wing back's normally dont get deployed as much in a back 4 as they're a lot more aggressive as they're more often than not the teams focal point of width attacking wise on that wing. Now we are playing a back 4 we play with Full backs be it attacking or defending. Allayhar would be found out especially playing that deep
A full back has far more defensive responsibility in a back 4 than a wing back in a back 5. It’s not splitting hairs at all. A wing back is a much more attacking role, you could flip that on its head and say it’s a more defensive winger. Allahyar standing his ground defending in the box is a sure fire way to get yourself relegated. Might as well play Lo-Tutala with his excellent footwork in the #10 role.
I’d say ‘a very good Championship keeper’ is stretching a bit. He’s ok, but I think it’s an easy choice to make out the two of them… and it isn’t Ingram.
That can only be a guess, none of us really have any idea how good Darlow is compared to Ingram do we. You seem to have a really big thing for judging players based on division. For every player it seems to come down to "Played for us in League 1 at one point = objectively ****. Played in the PL = objectively better than what we've got." You must understand it's not that simple though surely?
Allahyar as a right-back in a back 4 is just silly. He played a couple of games as a left wing-back in a 3-5-2; so did KLP a few times. Doesn’t mean I’d want KLP at left-back or right-back.
Where did I mention wing backs? We play in a back four. I said Ally is worse defensively than Elder and Coyle. He may be better going forward but that's irrelevant to what I said.
At least it gives us the opportunity to play Oscar as the middle centre back in a three Should be easy to convert him to that as he’s got all the attributes of a centre back
