Cancer to me obviously played a big part in my life when I lost my wife, they will never (or if they have) publically say they have found for that horrible disease, companies make far too much money from drugs to "cure" it, I know this is a fun page so sorry :)

But Uber, he has been vaccinated, self vaccinated.
He claims he had Covid, which is a silly way to raise your own immunity ( imho)., but it does the same thing

So your lovely little meme is wrong

I just found it funny, Beth. I can’t be like others and just find serious points in everything. I found my lovely little meme amusing so shared it for others that might find it amusing. And you boffins.

Too many people take too much too seriously too much of the time, Vern. There’s too little time left to take too much seriously and too much fun to be had.

Its hard to take it as a funny jape, when you are called a f****** moron under the pay of a secret paedophile conspiracy cabal, whose only aim is to control the masses and kill the old.
    To be abused on line
To be spat at in a public car park
To lose friends from years ago (ok...always thought those friends were a bit dubious....that was not a big loss)

My plan is basically to see out my days having fun, thats why I had the vaccine...and why I promote it, so I am not surrounded by virus exhaling idiots

So sorry you've been put through that **** Beth.
What do you make of the decision to stop vaccinating the healthy under 50s? Apparently we've now attained good herd immunity and it's no longer being treated as a pandemic.
    Thoughts?

You do realise you can exhale the virus even after a jab Beth? Personally, if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have had any of the jabs but that's just me.

I do realise that Bob. But the difference is viral load.

So...you get the virus, and if you are not vaccinated, it's replication in the lungs is uncontrolled...and a lot is breathed out. Some people get ill, others do control the growth and don't gett ill/ too ill.

However if you are vaccinated. The virus starts to replicated ( and yes you breathe it out then)...but your antibodies and t cells combat it and keep the replication levels down...and the levels you breathe out. ( reduces the viral lode).

So the level the person opposite you breathes in...is far reduced and so their immune system has less to deal with...Especially if they too are vaccinated..

So...Bob, yes I do...but to me...another great reason to be vaccinated.

Your body is yours to do with what you want.... But I am personally very glad so many people were vaccinated...thank you all who did

It was the very first plan Col ...to let the virus rip through the community and establish a herd immunity....( I think in the first weeks I was in favour of it tbh)... but then we found out how deadly it was in the first wave to the old, to the ill and the frail.

We are now in a situation where a significant majority of the population are vaccinated, or have had at least one of the strains of Covid ( self vaccinated if you like?)....and sadly a lot of the really vulnerable have died.

We also have neutralising drugs to help people with problems fight Covid. And the most recent strains are a little more mild than the alpha strain.

Herd immunity is the way forward. Allow our children to fetch it when they are young and strong...

Some one once said.....we need to get to the situation where covid becomes just a bad cold... we are still a few years away from that...but we are heading in that direction .

I have had three jabs and self vaccinated twice
Would have been quite happy to have only gone the self vaccination route
(Might not have been so mild without the jabs but we will never know) but I would have been unemployed/not allowed anywhere/shunned by society here in new jacindaland

Is someone who isn't vaccinated, but gets covid, as protected with antibodies as someone who is vaccinated?

A great consise summary Beth. I'd add only wear a decent face mask when you go out and go near people you don't live with.

I was shielding due to a previous transplant and therefore merrily went through the vaccination process. Unfortunately the 1st booster which was Pfizer caused Pericarditis, leaving me on permanent medication and spent all of 2022 unable to do anything active. I spoke to a specialist heart consultant who said its pure maths. If vaccination keeps for an example 90% of people out of hospital this saves the NHS £100m, the 10% who are hospitalised/Die due to having the jab costs the NHS
£10M jabs cost £30m net savings £60m.These figures obviously made up but you get the idea. This guy normally works in Germany and created the medication regime that I am now on so I guess he knows what he was on about. He did say if he was in my position he would probably go for the further boosters but understood if I didn't which was already my choice!

It's an interesting topic and one, by all accounts is debatable. Studies seem to conclude that viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated are of similar levels. Sometimes depending on many factors as strain, age, sex etc but generally there doesn't seem to be much difference. Some people can have a high viral load and no symptoms and not be as contagious as someone with a low viral load who is very sick.

We have had one Astra Zeneca + one Moderna Covid vaccination (original pair) then three Moderna boosters, the last being against the Omicron B1 variant last September. We also had the senior (stronger) flu jab. In anticipation of our upcoming wedding trip to California, we recently signed up for a sixth Moderna booster here in Florida but the pharmacist would not permit another Omicron booster at this time (was hoping for a jab against the latest Omicron variant).

We know a couple in their early eighties back in Nova Scotia. The husband is a former Canadian navy millwright, but he is an alcoholic with diabetes and despite having all his Covid shots and boosters, they both contracted Covid at a vaccination clinic for the senior flu shot. The wife took it well, but the husband ended up in the ICU on a ventilator, he sort of recovered but is now on a feeding tube and can no longer walk. When he is eventually discharged from hospital, he cannot return home as it is assessed his wife cannot take care of him, so he will be going into some sort long-term care facility, either a nursing home, special care home or group home assisted living. So our trip with this couple to a lovely cottage on the Atlantic Coast, near Shelburne Nova Scotia was literally his last hurrah, he showed us where he was brought up nearby, his father was an abusive alcoholic to his family, but he was just a harmless drunk who falls asleep after his Canadian Rye Whisky and numerous beers. Really hard on his long suffering wife!

So in my opinion anyone who chooses not to get Covid vaccinated and boosted to the max, also the senior flu shot, is totally stupid and ignorant. That philosophy of max available vaccinations has served us really well so far.
