If true, you would have thought it would have been part of the Llorente deal.

Doubt it personally and can’t see who he would replace?

Looks like we may have given permission for Bogusz to leave the club and sign for an MLS side, may even be DC United with his fellow Pole Klich. Leeds will have a nice sell on clause

If any substance to it, Zaniolo could only mean offer accepted for Harrison surely.

That said, You do often find that if a club is in negotiations with another club about selling a player (llorente) - anyone else at that club then might be available, suddenly becomes part of the rumour mill.

I reckon we won't get Zaniolo as Spurs have been trying to get him.all January and failed.

Zaniolo is not wanted at roma, he has received death threats in the last couple of days!
Bournmouth offered 35m, he turned them down, also linked with sevilla and probably will be linked with just about any club tomorrow.

The story is deeper than that. Roma and Bournemouth agreed a price then Zaniolo turned them down as he wants to go to AC cos he wants to stay in Italy. The board went ballistic and froze him out the team. Then the death threats came by Ultras.

IMO, the left sided center back needs to be left sided (same as the left back and the left midfield/wing needs to be left sided)
Few players (even professionals at the highest level) are truly two footed (ie: equally capable of playing with either foot). So asking a right sided player to play on the left is like asking Andy Murray to play tennis left handed.

Bielsa liked a left footed-right footed combo at center back and in this at least, he was quite correct.

Do a lot better on their natural side.

    Same with wingers.

I understand what you're saying. I'd say it's more relevant to the full backs.

We don't pay too much attention to the same thing in central midfield. We don't say that we play a RCM and a LCM. I hardly think it's relative at all in central defence and I don't think it's an issue at all. It seems a modern day requirement. You just need two centre halves that have a good partnership and you're away. Hopefully Koch and Wober can gel, the early signs are good. I noticed when Llorente came on that within minutes Wober went to head the ball and Llorente was within 5 yards of him. Luckily Wober won the header otherwise Accrington were through on goal. Koch would have swept in behind in case he lost it. That relationship is far more important than whether they can pass a ball with their wrong foot 10 yards to make the full backs job easier. We'll have to disagree here. Quick question, if you're still reading, what foot should the central defender of a back 3 use? Does he have to be equally good with either foot?

As for wingers it's a purely tactical decision although personally I like left footed wingers on the left and right footed wingers on the right but that's if you keep wide and want to hit the byline and swing crosses in (think Wilko's team in 92). Playing them on opposite sides allows a more direct route to goal as it allows the wingers to cut in to a more central position and get shots in at goal. Seems the modern way.

I often wonder how Wilko's tactics would get on today. There's not many successful all out 4-4-2 sides out there.

All spot on emu… for sides that play with genuine wingers there’s even the concept of the inverted full back these days… who look to cut inside rather than overlap. Our best left back of recent times is probably Stuart Dallas.

Back to centre backs.. agree that the partnership and individual ability trump the foot for me… though I agree a left/right combo is a nice to have.

As the stats in that article support…Two thirds of Europe’s tops teams ‘get by’ with two right footers.

Think the CB debate will run and run because some like me blame the tactics for exposing the CB like Llorente who has taken the brunt of criticism. A wily old campaigner like Jose obviously sees Llorente as a great defender, after all his tactics are based around a solid defence. He won the Europa league last year and is in the European places this season again. Chris Smalling will leave on a free so Llorente seen as crucial. Spanish international but taken a beating by some fans here because his game isn’t suited to Jesseball :emoticon-0148-yes:
