Hard to believe it's almost 53 years since the "Who Live at Leeds" recording replaced the attempt in Hull. Hope they get the gear working correctly this time.
Hope it's released soon, request for birthday present already lodged with son who's a fan,so a chance.

Artic Monkeys at the Avicii Arena (16,000 sell out) in Stockholm with my 14 year old daughter.

They are one of the few bands/acts with both really like so I am looking forward to it a lot.

Pleased to she she come a long way from Ariana Grande and (especially) Marcus & Martinus which were the first two gigs I had to take her to <laugh>

Back in their hey-day, for various reasons, I missed them three or four times when they were playing locally; I know they'll be two short of the classic line up but I aren't missing this time for anything!

Saw them twice, in 1965 and 1966 the week before England won the World Cup. Second time we saw them in the public bar of the hotel they were staying in. The were very approachable and talkative to a group of 16 year olds well on the way to being pissed. They livened up as one by one they returned from a trip to the toilets.<laugh> Three of them anyway, Daltrey didn’t and seemed well in control of himself. The were so impressed with support act the Mandrakes, fronted by Allen, later Robert Palmer, they later asked for them to be a support band in Leeds. A lad in my class at school was in 21st century and Jenks who later ran the speedboat in Brid and who will have only been 15. Never knew until years later as we were in the bar and only came out when they announced the Who were coming on.
There was special poster done for it, my dad was given one to put up in his shop, only a few printed. Never thought about it and binned it. Saw one on e-bay a few years back for about £1,500. This was the ordinary one.

The Who did finally release "Live At Hull 1970" in 2012. The recording quality is not in the same league as the Leeds gig but it's well worth a listen.

I wont be going to the 2023 tour. It will never be the same without Entwistle and Moon.

Didn’t they have trouble with one of the recording mics in Hull? From all accounts their actual performance in Hull was better than the one in Leeds.

To be fair it's better to go see a good quality cover band than the (what's left of) the original band who were around in the 1960s.

Through the magic of technology, they managed to somehow overlay/dub the Live at Leeds recordings onto the spoilt Live at Hull audio sections and no one can tell the difference. I haven't heard the Hull version so can't confirm. I was fortunate to be at the original gig at Leeds U.U. back in '70. Marvellous it was. Valentines Day.

They did actually manage to import some of the missing parts from the Leeds recording and created a complete version of the Hull concert. Pete Townshend always said that the Hull effort was the better performance - my wife was there and has always blamed it for her subsequent hearing loss.
We did buy the Hull CD a few years ago - it is great.
