2 goals on his international debut for Spain at 32!! Good on him! Although I appreciated his character while with us I never thought I'd write this!
Just tells you how far back Spain have gone in recent years. For him though, we’ll done. It’s important to flag up that he always tried and never failed to be on time and no one should slag him off for his time here. Personally, I wouldn’t have ditched him.
TBH I think this says as much about CF as a position in general. There are barely any top notch players around in that position anymore. Especially a problem for a side like Spain who have long pushed a very specific, technical style at all age groups. His numbers have been quite good in Spain though. I always liked him, every week I was desperate for him to get on the scoresheet when he was with us. Your CF has to get goals though at the end of the day.
Was always a good player he was just not used correctly in a side that didn't create and the fans marked him down as a point ridicule and blame.... what's new.
You’re generalising again eg ‘the fans’. If you mean more than 2 then I agree. If you mean the majority of fans then I disagree. I believe most fans recognised that he was a ‘cheap’ buy and never expected him to be Shearer Mark II
He was fairly decent, but not outstanding or a top player. As mentioned it does suggest that Spain have fallen back a lot recently if they've gone from the days of David Villa, Torres etc, to now having to resort to a 32 year old Joselu as striker.
There are always other descriptive words that could be used to clarify meaning other than names…unless you’re deliberately being ‘general’ of course.
