Almost every thread on our board ends up in a slanging match between rival fans, especially with United's fans. It's extremely boring and I wish we'd not instigate childish banter or even succumb to the gutter trash that gets flung our way from other fans. After all, this is supposed to be football forum! I started a thread yesterday, which I thought would've evoked some raw emotion that may have still been simmering from the game on Wednesday, but instead, it spiralled into a frenzied, immature exchange between our fans and United's fans. I like this forum; I do. It has so much potential to be a fantastic long-term replacement for 606, but I feel that this feat is in great jeopardy if we continue to behave like undignified, disrespectful nincampoops. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of banter between fans; it's paramount in creating a good, light-hearted atmosphere! But there's a line which need not be crossed, and more often than not, it is not only crossed, but leapt over by a mile. Let's not detract from the vision that has been set by the patrons of this forum, lest we not have a forum at all to post on in the future! Sorry for the serious-sounding nature of this post! Now..... COME ON THE ARSENAL!!!! GET IN!!!!
Come on. I know I'm one of the main protagonists but that doesn't mean I'm devoid of some sensible chat.
I only come onto this board because I have to take a look but find that both this and the Man U boards to be poor. For the size of both clubs they should be the biggest forums, I accept that fans will be spread over many forums but feel the quality could be a problem. Both seem to attract and accept visitors whoes only aim is to disrupt, we had a few on the Sunderland and Newcastle forums but got rid, no not what you may think, Sunderland chased the Sunderland lot and Newcastle theirs. Banter and a bit of WUMMING is part and parcel of football life, what I see on here stops debate and the ignore facility, used properly, will ensure debate is possible. All that said its your forum to accept what you will on it.
Its up to the members what they want mate, if the majority want to shut out the wums they will either complain or ignore, same an the Man U board. Must admit I was surprised at how they go on here because the Sunderland forum tend to spend their time talking amongst each other about just about everything under the sun, same with Newcastle and they are the two I'm used to. The forum members will decide at the end of the day and all you can do is to try and give them what they want. I personaly would swith off very quickly if I had some of the things I read on here, just not my thing and I'm not talking as mod, just me a footy fan. Same reason BTW that I dont use the general chat forum.
A lot of people have complained about the lack of football debate on here, they seem to think it's worse than BBC 606.You may have noticed i have posted a "WUM" thread, hopefully people will use this to post ballocks
We have created a WUM THREAD for those who want to sling mud. The other wum threads are going to get closed down, unless they are witty and make us laugh. The persistent mindless infantile clap trap we could do without. Still waiting for Mick or Syd to sort out my mod status....then I can get my mop and bucket out
We're all here to discuss football issues relating to the team we support. I honestly think the sensible users should be given the opportunity to become mod. It's very hard when our board moderation aren't as active as the other board mods. If our moderation were active, would our (deluded) fans be on other boards?
Mick back on Monday mate and it will be sorted then, he knows about it and I have not forgotton. Think it will help a lot to have two of you because it does ware you down.
Then you organise to replace the mod and dont just ignore the people who are trying to improve the forum. I have not had one complaint about any of the mods.
Ok cheers mate. Happy to sensibly moderate this board and give the wums a place where they can dwell if they want. As soon as it's sorted, I'll put up an announcement about how we're going to moderate this board, hopefully then it will make it a bit clearer about what to expect and give those who want to talk about football (this is a football site after all) a chance to talk with like minded fans.
Nearly all of our fans would like at least one new mod (but that's a decision up to you guys). Around five articles have been created relating to our moderations and people have put their names forward, there's a few sensible posters who are willing to do anything for this forum in order for it to succeed.
The problem with the Utd board mate is that you've got three or four members who are intent on ruining it for everyone else. They're on here, on the Chelsea board, on the Newcastle board too. They've been given short shrift on here. But still keep coming back for more. We've made a wum thread for them if they want to act like idiots, if they try to disrupt the rest of the board, we will prevent them from posting on here. I'd suggest that your mods do the same
The people who want to mod your board are the same people who spend most of their time wumming on here
