But I hate to hear marco saying we We all heard him a few years ago He is a derby fan How the hell he is on a Sunderland (Newcastle)station I don’t know
No idea what ur are on about mate, you cant expect people to read that and have a single clue in what you are going on about?
I remember it. It was the season we got relegated from Championship 5 years ago. We were playing Derby and as we were nearly relegated and they were still in with a chance of going up he said he wanted Derby to win
I remember being peed off with that at the time as we still had a chance of staying up. I've never seen him in the same light since.
Sanderson, Doyle, Allardyce, Broadhead, Jordan Jones, etc, etc, etc, were all supposed to 'get the club' ... ... most heroes only exist in the moment and in the minds of the people who hero worship them. During 11 years working in the music industry I had hundreds of fans begging me to go backstage to meet their idols. I'd always advise them not to but would often cave in and take them into the dressing rooms .. ... at a rough guess I'd say only 15 to 20% enjoyed the experience, most were disappointed and a fair few were disgusted. In a fair few cases they were insulted, some ran and some were groped. My advice was always to avoid meeting anyone you really admire although I ignored my own advice when I was with Bobby Charlton in Cannes ... ... what a tosser
Marco, is as arrogant as they come, he thinks the club still owe him a living on the back of being a ****e agent, he always taps up the commercial dept for freebies.
I also met Bobby Charlton once...what an arrogant prick that man is. However, his Brother Jack was a gem
I'd grown up with the narrative that Bobby Charlton was a true gentleman and a great ambassador ... ... he was dreadful in reality. Thankfully Geoff Hurst was also there, what a great bloke he was.
As a kid I met the England team training at Wrexham for a game against Wales. I met the entire squad, As I said, Bobby Charlton, was a tosser as was Alan Mullary and Peter Osgood wasn't the nicest, But Jack Charlton, Bobby Moore and Nobby Stiles were so kind with their time and for a star struck kid, to met Sir alf Ramsey was the highlight, an absolute gentlemen
Just going off watching the Charlton brothers on tv, I always thought Jack came across as brash and arrogant, and Bobby was humble and pleasant. Going off what you have said and and others have told me the reverse is true. Just goes to show you can't always go by first impressions
Couple lads I worked with met Jack in a fish and chip shop and said he was just a normal old bloke (who happened to have won a World Cup winners medal). When Bobby got the lifetime achievement thing or whatever it was on BBC Sports Personality Of The Year, the BBC got Jack to present it to Bobby. They hadn't spoken for years, apparently for the way Bobby treated their mother. Jack announced it by saying it was for "The greatest footballer I have ever seen.... And my brother". Brought a lump to my throat just watching it. Bobby barely acknowledged Jack when he gave him the trophy.
I've met Jack a number of times, he was an absolute gent, always had time to stop and chat especially with my kids when they were younger.
I bumped into Jackie a few times, fly fishing on the Wear above Finchale Abbey. Always had time for a chat and absolutely zero airs and graces, smashing bloke
Jack used to get in Ashbrooke Club when his son was managing it, down to earth, friendly, approachable. I remember seeing him in the bar once with a group of little kids, messing round with them like he would with his own grandkids.a really lovely bloke
