He’s a big champion of the local music scene as well, often spot him at gigs in the area. Whatever next, Peter Levy and Paul Hudson for the chop?

In the bigger scheme of things (live) radio listening is down and probably local more so.
The demographics I suspect lead to older types still listening to radio (none of my children do) - possibly more so for local issues / news / bit of a moan.
Of the ones that are on Humberside he comes across as being capable of going elsewhere as opposed to 'enthusiastic- but amateur', 'pleasent but ineffective' or 'grating and biased - how have they still got a show'
His daytime shows are okay - aimed at the audience he has - most of the others are hospital radio at best.
Sports shows - can be annoyingly / unnecessarily negative at times - worse when he's with Swanny better for example when with Hughes (?)
He does a lot to champion (ignored) local causes and genuinely (which is a change) likes music / champions local bands.
Never met him personally - though those who have seem to think he's a decent chap
Overall a further erosion of localism / identity...

If everyone does that, who do you think is going to pay for Linekar's £1.35m salary? I suppose you also expect Shearer to take a pay cut from his £455,000 salary, do you? I think it's an utter disgrace how people can be allowed to make these decisions without asking for feedback from the general public when it affects the local community. MOTD is decent but how anyone can justify the pay given to two blokes discussing a football match is beyond me. What makes it all worse is we're paying for it.

Jobs for the boys, too many feeding from the same trough.

You can't replace his knowledge of the 'goings on' at City over several decades, that's irreplaceable. Can't say I ever warmed to the hanger on Swanny though, if anything he devalued Burnsy some what.
Community radio needs elder figures like Burnsy, the BBC are good at keeping so many ancient hangers on, often to the bafflement of licence payers, so why axe such a genuinely respected local figure? Must also mention his good taste in music and support for the local music seen, often see him off duty at gigs, top bloke who deserves better.

I liked him on both his daytime show and on the footy.

Very bad decision in my opinion. Most of the others are terrible at best. Andy Comfort in the afternoon with his long pronunciations of words with sssssss st the end does my head in. It is it just me who hears it?

Alex Burgess then? That said, I reckon carpet might still be doing the football, though maybe not. Is he retirement age? Or does he just look retirement age? I think trying to interview the likes of Nigel Pearson, and Terry McCann have aged him. Plus working with the Allam's must have put a huge strain on him.
IMHO Burnsey is a nice bloke, having met him a couple of times, out and about.

PS. Don't write off Burnsey just yet...
    'Fearless style'
Katrina Bunker, BBC Head of Yorkshire, said the presenter "loves where he lives, and giving local people a voice".

"His fearless style means he's held local authorities to account and deservedly won a number of awards for his broadcasting over the years," she said.

"He'll be missed greatly by listeners when he leaves us in summer - but I'm sure he won't be a stranger."

She said the presenter "may well be back in the future in our sports coverage".

I may be bucking the trend here but I like Burnsy tbh, he can be negative at times but let's be honest, many tines he is saying out loud what some of us are thinking, not every time, but I certainly prefer him to the likes of fkn Gormless Gollum

Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if it was already sorted/in the works to be covering the sports on a freelance basis and it's just not being mentioned by burnsey. We do know how much he likes to sensationalise things and string things out.

He repeatedly mentioned it this morning, after people kept asking and he has no idea if he'll be asked to continue doing City games or not.

Don’t listen to Radio Humberside much but I’m well aware of the stuff Kofi gets up to because of social media. Probably attracts a different set of listeners.

But it can’t be because of that can it, because it has to come down to skin colour. Always.
