It can always go lower - look at America. That's exactly where we're headed unless we start changing the way we vote.
I agree with you on the worrying prospect of us following the American system, I always look upon the liar as our equivalent of Trump.
I agree. Each long standing govt outdo the last in terms of so called sleaze and corruption. The last labour govt were a newsworthy lot. We had Ecclestone, then Levy, then cash for peerages, cash for amendments. It was a grim time to be a Labour member, as I was back then. That is before I even mention some of the disastrous policy choices they made and the legacy we still endure. The tories have carried the baton on further. It seems hard to imagine it going lower but politicians seem to have a knack for it.
Just seen the Dianne Abbott letter. Wow, she is openly saying only black people can be victims of racism because they have had it worse. Which would be ridiculous if it was true is even more so when you consider the holocaust!
We like most have council elections next month, l certainly will not be voting for either the Tories or Labour as the are the epitome of what is wrong with our political parties, greed, corrupt, inefficiency, insulated, and damn disgraceful. Two parties that have been in government for 23 years of this century, unfortunately they have turned politics in a complete laughing stock. As luck had it the other night l sat down for tea and a party political broadcast was about to start. This party spoke about local issues, environmental concerns, care in the communities and action to be taken with in the Constituencies. The following night another broadcast, total different, talking about strikes, cost of living, boat migrants and so on. One was the green party, the other the Liberal party, so l know which one is for me.
I have just been reading about Angela Rayner trying to persuade the labour party at constituency level to let her 'soulmate' be back in and allowed to stand for MP again. An MP asking for their partner not to be deselected? You have to laugh at the stupidity of these people. Not that I work with my wife, but I cant imagine the look on my colleagues face if I said please dont sack my soulmate, she is so hardworking and caring blah blah blah. Soon to be deputy leader of our country
The problem here is a loan to Johnson. Terrible look. Ideally govt should have no say in who is appointed chairman. More rules that need changing.
Imagine them agreeing on anything. The last time we had consensus politics was post WW2. You would have hoped Covid and or Brexit might have engendered some level of consensus but sadly we have no motivation for it it seems as voters. Some might suggest we have the government we deserve, and the opposition we deserve.

UK travellers trying to enter the Schengen zone are being turned away on a daily basis by airline staff at boarding gates – in most cases because their UK passport was issued more than 10 years ago. Rosi Simpson, a teacher from Brighton, is one of the latest to be caught up in the confusion. She says she was left “mortified and in tears” after easyJet staff refused to allow her to board a flight to Paris to see her son, who is studying there, because her UK passport had been issued 10 years and one day previously. “I had no idea of the 10-year rule,” she says. “I’d checked the expiry date, and my passport had eight months remaining. What happened at the boarding gate was absolutely awful. I lost the cost of the flight and the accommodation I’d booked – I’d been so looking forward to seeing my son – all because a load of w@nkers voted for Brexit."
