I'll explain it saying as though you disappeared. Smug always made reference to people voting for Brexit to get rid of foreigners. He always implied that Brexit voters were racist. My post was tongue-in-cheek and sarcasm based on his previous posts.

I voted for Brexit. I dont actually think myself or other Brexit voters are racist.

The government in England should increase its use of the private sector to tackle the NHS backlog, Labour says.

It said as many as 300,000 patients have missed out on treatment since it called for greater use of private clinics in January 2022.

It's pretty widespread here in Northamptonshire, we have used Ramsey Health via the NHS just recently when my wife had a major back operation in February.

Surely it should be available nationwide.

Have had my knee done a couple of times at a private clinic via the NHS. Dont think it is new idea but if capacity exists why not do more.

If private have time on their hands absolutely yes , use them. But guess argument against is when they are “ full” , to accept extra nhs on their lists , then the patients who have paid for private are going to wonder if they are having a longer wait than that they paid for themselves

Second time I had it done I went in at 8am. Supposed to be home on crutches that day. I was last in line of course <laugh>. So go into surgery about 4. Surgeon comes round to see me about 6 and says you need to stay overnight to let epidjural work out your system. Nee bother as I was in my own private room, tele and what not. Surgeon said you need to get the night nurse to get you up every 2 hours to walk round the room, something to do with circulation (they had put some air compressed moon boot on). Nurse came and in and I told her and she said tell him to get you up every 2 hours cos when you fall over I cant pick you up <laugh> sure enough I fell on my arse and needed a porter to come. To be fair to the nurse she clocked I had no food all day and came up with a decent cheese and tomato toastie for me. I asked for a glass of red but got a look. Buggers booted me out at 7am as well with no brekkie. Definitely wasnt the full private experience. Knee has been canny since mind.

Fair play to you for being so easy going at the prospect of an overnight stay. I'm almost phobic about over nighters in hospital. I once had a back and forth with a surgeon for what felt like an hour during which I insisted that he excise a 1.5x1.5 inch abcess on my shoulder on a local anesthetic rather than have a stop over involving a general. He was laughing tbf to him..."you REALLY dont like being a patient do you!?" I got my way in the end and drove home, wasn't as painful as he said it would be.

Getting caught speeding and paying your fine is an inquiry matter now?

It's going to be brilliant when Labour get in and all these rules apply to them.

Oh, and by extension, if you've ever taken a speed awareness course, you've dodged your punishment and should be sacked from your job. Not my rules.

Let's be honest, why should Cruella Braverman have to sit in the same room as the plebs who paid £250k in expenses to heat her parents home? :emoticon-0140-rofl:

If you have never been done for speeding and paid a fine/speed awareness course, then imho you very rarely drive and do not drive fast enough!

Then almost everyone should lose their job.

    But that's silly, isn't it?

It’s certainly not news worthy that’s for sure.

On the other hand I can’t wait to see the day that Labour get in and have to follow the rules. Even if they suddenly decided the party should be made up of criminals they would be hard pressed to match the current government level of rule breaking and ignorance.

I've got no problem with her paying a fine or attending a speed awareness course. What I do have a problem with is her trying to use the Civil Service to intervene so she can do it on the quiet.
