Actually having read it again they have brought forward the time they close car park exit at the end of the . It used to 15 mins I think, now 30 mins. Might be a way to get folk to stay to the end. No point on leaving on 60 mins to “ beat the traffic”

I am going to be kind and unlike Southampton let them have a goal. Whilst we just get another 5<laugh>.
    Who cares who scores them.

PS, happy to settle for Bart's prediction if mine fails tho.

It's the Princess Di effect imo.

Too many ribbons, badges and bracelets ... too many minutes silence/applause, black armbands and tributes.

If it's a normal supporter then imo it's for family and friends to remember and reminice ...

... applauding total strangers is becoming a little strange.

SAFC already have an annual remembrance which is great.

It felt much more meaningful to do a collective round of applause at the last home game of the calendar year for those who had passed during the year

one thing i've noticed from this is are weaknesses are aerial duels and stopping opponents from creating chance's,

while Cardiffs strength are aerial duels and finishing scoring chances,

might be a proper banana skin this game

On the other hand, Cardiff’s weaknesses are defending attacks down the wing and defending set pieces……2 of our strengths!! Jackie, Pat and Ba will tear them a new one!

Got to concentrate on our strengths especially at home, remember the only time Blackburn scored from a cross Ballard was off the pitch

Morning folks, Cardiff fan stopping by briefly just to say excellent thread :emoticon-0137-clapp

General consensus for us is if we come away with anything from this one then we'll have done well.

Most of our losses/dropped points this season have been a combination of individual lapses and/or some poor fortune (lucky deflections etc for the opposition), however, our game Tuesday night showed we still have those lapses in us ..

I see this as being our hardest test yet, even though we've already played Leeds, Leicester and Ipswich away.

Hoping for an entertaining game (and a Bluebirds win of course). Good luck for the rest of the season.

If you are that way inclined please feel free to pop by our thread too...

Got a feeling we will need to be patient Sunday as Cardiff will do the usual sit back deep.

Difficult to see where or if we need to make changes, can't complain at the starting 11 the last 2 games and wouldn't mind the same 11 starting again, especially with Roberts, Rusyn, AA, Rigg and Jewi to come of the bench second half and freshen things up.

Burstow to get off the mark with a tap in from a right wing cross, Pritchard free kick and Rusyn to come and bag a debut goal.

    3-0 and everyone home happy

    Cheers, I'll take a look.

You're coming to Sunderland just as we're really starting to click. We've just had three totally different opposition and found ways to beat them. You can see the players constantly talking, on the pitch, to adjust what we're doing, as if we have eleven captains.

It's fascinating to watch especially as they're such young players. Southampton tried to keep the ball away from us and failed, QPR tried to bully the young lads and failed, Blackburn tried attacking us from the start and failed.

Your biggest problem is Jack Clarke who, despite being double marked every game, seems oblivious to defenders ...

... mark him out of the game and you've left space for players who can hurt you. My big hope is that Aouchiche gets on the pitch, despite competition from Ba, Pritchard, Roberts, Rigg, etc. I think we've found a real star who can play anywhere.

I don't want to sound arrogant but, if you beat Sunderland, you'll need to score two or three imo.

Should make good viewing, for the neutrals, whatever happens.

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...-summer-message-sunderland-boss-tony-mowbray/

    upload_2023-9-23_10-15-12.jpeg

    By Scott Wilson

JACK CLARKE’S future might have been the subject of considerable uncertainty this summer – but Tony Mowbray was never worried about the winger’s mindset once a potential move to Burnley broke down….

“Were there any worries? No, not really,” said Mowbray, whose side start the weekend sitting in fourth position in the table after their win at Ewood Park. “He told me that if the move happens, it happens and he’ll take it in his stride. But if it doesn’t happen, he’s going to be happy at this football club.

“He said that to me, so I didn’t have any fears. It wasn’t like he was banging on my door saying, ‘Gaffer, I want to go, what’s going on? Get that deal done and sorted out’. He wasn’t doing that. He was saying, ‘If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t happen, I’ll give you everything I’ve got in every game’. That was good to hear, and he’s continued to do that.”

Clarke’s stellar form has been a key factor in Sunderland’s impressive start to the season, with the winger having caused a succession of problems down the Black Cats’ left-hand side and helped shoulder some of the goalscoring responsibility created by the absence of last season’s leading scorer, Amad Diallo….

“I feel you need to score from everywhere,” said Mowbray. “We’ve got a number of players who have scored now, over the course of a season, they have to make that seven or eight if they can.

“Everybody has to chip in, then if your centre-forward plays enough games, you’re hoping he gets well into double figures. If you can get the goals from everywhere, you end up getting the 60 or 70 goals you need to be up there. If you can get to 80 or 90 goals, then that’s the level you’re generally talking about for the teams that win the league.

“It’s massively important that goals come from everywhere, and at the moment, I think the team are stepping up and doing that. It’s a message they’ve had loud and clear for a long time now – I don’t want those players standing around when the ball is coming into the box, and I don’t want the central-midfield players being afraid of taking a shot. They’re all contributing and doing well, and long may that continue.”

Tomorrow’s game pits Sunderland against a Cardiff side that have started the season reasonably strongly, winning four of their last five matches in all competitions.

“It’ll be different to the last game,” said Mowbray. “But Cardiff have some very good players. It seems to me as if they’ve upgraded their team a little bit.

“Obviously, Aaron Ramsey is back playing at Cardiff, a legendary footballer for Wales, and they seem to have recruited pretty well. They’ve just won back-to-back games, one of which was their big derby against Swansea, so it’ll be a game where we have to be at our best.”
