Love him but the recruitment helps him no end. Team effort, and loving it. He's ideal for where we are, losing Neil was a godsend
Looking back, when Neil went and literally nobody wanted Mowbray!! Absolutely love the bloke. Neil simply didn’t want to have to work for success, instead he moved where he could buy failure!!!
Really think KLD understands what makes a success, unlimited oil money aside ofc. Thank goodness we have him and hopefully still here long after the oil states have moved focus.
https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...-sunderland-three-sy-does-it-for-mowbrays-men Andy’s Player Ratings: Sheff Wed 0-3 Sunderland - Three-sy does it for Mowbray’s men! Anthony Patterson: 7/10 Made a couple of routine saves, with him doing well with the one in injury time to push it wide. Kicking was OK at best tonight but he’ll be happy to get a clean sheet. Trai Hume: 8/10 Really comfortable night defensively and helped us control the game while we were in possession. Dan Ballard: 8/10 An absolute rock at the back again, with Sheffield Wednesday’s forwards barely having a sniff. Got on the scoresheet too and showed his hunger for a goal to get on the end of Pritchard’s corner. Luke O’Nien (C): 8/10 Strolled through the game, barely being tested with his main contributions being his ability in possession. Niall Huggins: 8/10 Another really good performance at left back, worked hard in and out of possession, getting up and down the line all game. Dan Neil: 9/10 Another controlled game by Neil, sitting in front of the back four and dictating play. Which is some going as he’s the only out and out central midfielder in our team. Alex Pritchard: 8/10 Set us on our way to victory with a great corner onto the head of Ballard, although that did come shortly after a poor free kick in a good position. Covered a huge amount of ground, linking up play and playing triangles around the home players. Patrick Roberts: 7/10 Caused all sorts of problems down the right but let down a little by his final ball. Took a brilliant touch and cut inside late in the first half but his effort from distance was wayward. Then had a couple of runs down the right immediately after the break and really should have picked out the onrushing Clarke rather than going alone for the first. Jobe Bellingham: 9/10 Sat just in front of Dan Neil and helped out both in attack and defence, looked an absolute Rolls Royce today and his best all-round game in a Sunderland shirt. Jack Clarke: 9/10 Far too good for the opposition again, scored twice and didn’t even have to get into fifth gear. The first was a cracker and took his penalty really well. Mason Burstow: 8/10 Much better from Burstow tonight and got a couple of assists as a reward. First his long pass to Clarke for the second and then a quick spin saw him break into the box before being brought down. Coupled his usual hard work with more dangerous runs, had some half chances but on that evidence goals will come. Substitutes Adil Aouchiche: 7/10 Really clever in possession once again and must be pushing for a first start, keeps slotting into the team seemlessly. Abdoullah Ba: 6/10 Tidy in possession and looked good on the ball without much to show it for it. Chris Rigg: 6/10 Put himself about in an advanced role where he was pretty much playing as a striker. Nazariy Rusyn: 6/10 Looked really lively on the right and was keen to get stuck into tackles. Jenson Seelt: 6/10 Came on late at right back as we strolled to an easy victory. Man of the Match: Jack Clarke Some really good performances all over the pitch today, with Jobe and Neil completely controlling the game for us, but Jack Clarke was again the difference maker. Scored a brilliant goal to make it 2-0, cutting inside and firing home from outside the box and then calmly slotting home his penalty to become the Championship’s top scorer.
Them and wigan show why its important to not just focus on a team to get you out a league but better to focus on a team that can kick on when you do get promoted Us n ipswich signed players that could grow with the team, while sheff wed have loads of players that were well past their best (their best wasnt exactly great) I watched them loads last season n thought out of the 3 promoted sides theyd struggle the most. They lacked pace, energy n creativity last season and theyve not signed well enough to adapt to the jump in quality I do feel sorry for their fans, having an owner like they do but i cant stand some of their players so quite happily see them go down
The morning after the night before and I'm still excited about last night and what this season could be. Whilst I appreciate you can only beat what's in front of you, the fact we started fast and blew them away without breaking sweat gives me huge confidence, then you think of the players put injured to come back and my mind starts to wander as to how far this lot can go. It's a long season and I know it's better not to get carried away, but it's hard not to and I'm just going to enjoy it, with the football we play enjoying it is easy
Really like him being our keeper but his distribution needs to improve , if he is going to be another Pickford he needs to improve his kicking and passing . Some of the balls Pickford passed were like guided missiles but appreciate Patterson is still young and learning all the time .
Comes to something when I’m a little disappointed we let them off with 3-0. Not a negative disappointment, more a ‘we let them off a bit’ and treat almost an hour of the match like a training game. we could have done them 6-7 I am gonna look at it as we were quite classy and showed some respect for their situation.
Excellent night really enjoyed catching up with friends again. Completely dominated the game from start to finish . Yes Sheffield were awful but we started well and the midfield just dominated the proceedings. Good to get a few minutes in the legs of others who will be needed as the season progresses. It's exciting football to watch and 2 home games coming up. Need to improve the home form and when we do we will take some stopping. A very enjoyable evening.
Highest scorers Best goal difference Excellent corner from Pritchard and a goal from a dead ball Pritchard breaks down an attack and tells Jobe where to pass it for the second Mowbray barely changed the team and we didn't look at all jaded, Cardiff was just a blip Our support is absolutely fantastic Yes mate, that's all well and good but ... ... did you burst your stitches
Aye, you know we were in the Vic after the Cardiff game and there was none of that after a defeat feeling. We were all saying ‘we will probably have a handful of those over season and it’s fine, we win the next one’ and so it came to be. Think about under Ross and Johnson when draws did for us. We won’t have many draws. We played very well v Cardiff. They were very solid and organised and they have some good players. Once any one of the strikers is up to speed and starts scoring we don’t lose that game. The 3 games we have lost could easily have been 7-9 points, and that’s with new players still settling and some not having played yet. We in great shape. Jobe, can I just say, is starting to look really ****ing something. Dan Neil remains player of the season to date despite Clarke being outrageous again for me. Dan has become the glue he is playing effortlessly and quietly getting through the graft of 88 Chilean miners.
I would agree but the home form really does need to improve of we have any ambitions to be promoted this year. Watford and Boro this week. Need to find a way to break down opposition teams that sit and play a heavy low block. Not all teams with ve Southampton and keep to their passing and attacking principles no matter what. Cardiff found a way to frustrate us. Havnt seen much of Watford this year so can not comment on their style. Seen a fair bit of Boro and they can be ripped apart with direct passing through the transition. People will want 6 points but 4 would be a good return and be a improvement from home form in past games
I was drunk mate! I didn't see any of the last twenty minutes ... ... just happy I hadn't paid for a stream
