..a team who's greatest achievement over the last half a decade is getting to the League Cup Final <laugh><laugh><laugh>

And this bunch of jokers are supposed to be our closest challengers? Do me a favour!

The "Mickey Mouse" Cup, or does it mean something now that Arsenal are in the final?

It was a tournament worth winning as soon as we were knocked out and they were made favourites. Strange, but lately the FA Cup is something they were never bothered about at all.

Unless they beat Leyton Orient and then knock us out, suddenly it'll be more important than the Champions League <laugh>

The funny thing about Arsenal fans is that the younger ones, the WUMs on various internet forums, think Arsenal are awesome and are sure to win the league. The older, wiser ones, who tend to air their views on radio phone-ins, are a lot more realistic and accept that there is something missing. They know Wenger should have spent in January, and they don't think he's the best manager of the last decade

Technically in the last half decade their greatest acheivment was reaching the cl final

And as for arsenal. I thought wenger was being a moron for so long, but F me. He is creating a team undoubtably will be winning leagues in the next few years.

Hate to say it but what that mans done for that club should go down in folklore. He has created a great team and reduced arsenals debt.

I can't see them winning league titles, maybe a few cups and challenging for the title but not actually winning it. The team he's built aren't good enough and I am very surprised that they are still in all 4 competitions what with some rotten performances away in Europe, against lower league sides in the FA Cup and losing to Ipswich Town in the Carling Cup.

I never thought Wenger was a moron. To me his biggest failing has been sticking so rigidly to his short passing and attacking philosophy and almost completely eschewing combative and mentally tough players since Vieira left. Whilst it gets him plaudits for being such a purist, it's undoubtedly contributed to them being trophyless for so long.

I can honestly see Arsenal winning league titles with their team over the next few years, provided Fabregas stays for at least the next four years, but never consistently. I think they'll have a good spell of three or four seasons when they win a couple of PL titles, a few cups and get to the final of the CL again, much like they did from 2002-2006. But then Fabregas will finally get his dream move to Barca, probably after a league win or a CL final, and they'll struggle to fill that gap. More players will move on and they'll have another long spell with few or no trophies whilst Wenger builds another team from unknown youngsters and refuses to mix the style up in order to grind out results.

That, to me, is why SAF is always ahead of Wenger in terms of managerial quality. SAF is always willing to alter the playing style and approach of his team to get the result, whilst still sticking to attacking principles. If you compare our performance against Barca at the Nou Camp in 2008, when we would have won had Ronaldo not missed a penalty, with Arsenal's last season then you can see the difference. That, and SAF is much quicker to build and rebuild successful teams after important players leave.

I agree Wenger is a good coach and Arsenal will be challenging for the title over the next few years but I'd be surprised if Cesc is still there. Once Cesc goes it'll take them a while to replace him as I for one don't understand all the raving about Wilshere. He's a good player but nowhere near Cesc's ability.

They have ramsey. Who I can tell you now will be just as good a fabregas. If not better. Worst transfer mistake we made in quite some time missing out on him. Scholes succesor if ever there was one. Good of got 15 0r so years out of him aswell for a measly five million. But then wenger had to go and spoil it all.

The thing is they are relitively young still.

    Fabregas
    Ramsey
    Wilshere
    Walcott
    Nasri
    Rvp

They all have years left in them.

Their midfield is world class no doubt about it. And they will improve.

Can't believe I forgot about Aaron. Yes hell of a player or was as it remains to be seen will he be the same player after the injury. I agree not getting him was a failure.

Really? i was never into the hype really. He shook hands to sign with us and loan back to Cardiff iirc. "Personal Terms" made him sign with the goons, IE money.
Potential that goes back on his word and follows the £££? not sure he'd fit in at united.

Yes but we've been hearing this for the past 6 years and they still haven't won anything.

Actually it was because Wenger came to meet him face to face and show him what his future would be like at thee club and they would develop him. Fergie never met him..

We didn't really have any chance with Ramsey - everyone at Cardiff was advising him to go to Arsenal, and he was coached by an ex-Arsenal player. But yeah, missing out on him was gutting, particularly given our alternatives in CM this season. Damn, if Ramsey recovers fully from his injury then he could form an awesome long term CM pairing with Wilshire if Fabregas leaves.

Another reason to be grateful Arsenal still have gaps at the back and only RVP as a top class out and out stiker, and show no inclination of wanting to change this...

Yes but the players they have now are either proper quality or of an age where they are showing ability. Forget the last 6 years its the here and now that counts. And here and now yes they still have a young team, but bloody hell its a good team.

Compare this Arsenal side to the last Arsenal side to win the Premiership, this current side are considerably weaker.

True but then again compare our current squad with previous Utd title winning squads and we are very very weak and yet still likely to win the league.

Beleive me I have been watching him play for cardiff on a couple of occasions when they have been on the box. Let me tell you that injury hasnt affected him in the slightest. In the games he has played he has been cardiffs best player and he has been embarassing opposition players. He cant even be more than 70% fit. Not a bad feat when your playing with bellamy etc. He has been making the championship look horrendous. They are desperate to keep for the rest of the season and I am not suprised. But wenger unsuprisingly wnats him back for the run in.

Everyones creaming over wilshere but ramsey is the real talent. Their abilitys are not even close.
