The best player for Cardiff over the last 25years?

I say Yes. This takes into account appearances for the club. Ramsey and Bellamy may have more individual talent. But contribution wise and commitment gives Whitts the edge.

    Just my opinion though.

    Thoughts.

Whitts has been with us longer, and has been quality almost from the off. I remember he took a time to settle though! Best player.....Bothroyd had real class, Josh Lowe was up there too!

I suppose it depends on what criteria you use to measure the "best". There is no doubt in my mind that Whitts has the greatest ball skills of anyone we've had for a long, long time. If, on the other hand, you measure by the consistent effect a player has on a game, there may be an argument for certain others.

For me, Whitts IS the best CARDIFF CITY player we've had for the time specified, because he is skillful, can excite and most importantly, IS a Cardiff City TEAM player.

It's very strange, but it was only 3 years back that many on here (including me) were berating Whitts for his weaknesses on the park rather than praising him for his skills. How times have changed.

There was a lot of calls for him to be shipped out along with McPhail as they were both seen to be "weak" players. Thank goodness we kept both. The pair of them playing together with the protection of Gunnar and Cowie alongside them in a 5 man midfield makes this current Cardiff side one of the most creative teams in the Championship.

As has been said, it's all relative, no doubt Whitts is up there, as Sparkey says not to long ago people were moaning about Whitt's lack of physical committment, and complaining he was a weakness and a bit of a "luxury" player without the battling qualities needed in a championship midfielder. He has worked on that side of his game obviously and is definitely a better player for it.........a great player at this level no doubt, but best in 25 years is a bit of a tag to lumber him with IMO................if you had to pick a Cardiff best XI of the past 25 years..........well Whitts (as he is now) would be in it doubtless, but "best" I just couldn't say <ok>

'Best' is very subjective and we are seeing a new dimension to Whitts game.

Bellamy is undoubtedly the best midfielder to grace a Bluebird's shirt in many a long while, but he wasn't ours. Ramsey is the best central midfielder Wales has by a long way, but we didn't see the best of him (not a lot of him at all really) and he is a better player now than when he was with us.

Whitts is the best goalscoring midfielder we have had (ever? - John Buchanan and Kav would push him close) and possibly the most creative (McPhail). He is now adding steel to that and we need to see it consistantly for the rest of the season for him to force himself into the position of 'best'.

On a positive note, I wouldn't swap him for any other Championship midfielder!!!!!!!!!

witts is the most technically gifted footballer in the whole division.

I quite agree Whitts is probably one of the 'best' players in the championship and unlike Jay I don't think he'd struggle in the premier league and again unlike Jay, Whitts is a team player, for me SuperKev has been one of our best recent players, and what a change Malky has brought about, players willing to go through the pain barrier instead of limping off after a few minutes like under DJ, this team actually earn their coin.

What about Earnie? Obviously not quite as good now but back in his first spell he was awesome, and I'm sure we've got a lot of him to come.

earnie was a joy to watch heart on his sleeve immense pace and a clinical finisher. He is a goalscorer and a poacher but does not have the technical ability that Jay had, let alone witts.

Whitts is the soul of Cardiff these days & brings confidence to others . Throw in your new manager & Marshal between the posts & I'm not at all surprised by where Cardiff are in the table .
