    Come on folks, let`s keep the forum lively....all a bit quiet on here.
    Bluesheep, is the prediction league applicable tonight please?
    If so 2-2 after extra time, city to win on penalties!

    The Masked Man

    I can see where you're coming from mate but I think we need to see tonight out of the way first, most of us are still in shock and I hope the respect given tonight may in some way help.

    <ok>

    I think you're right Rhondda, but then so is Kimo Sabe to a certain extent.

    Those who don't feel they can post anything on this forum other than on that subject should obviously be respected, but to many others, the way forward is to talk. I'm not being hard - I've lost too many close family members of my own to have anything other than deepest sympathy for Gary's family.

    I will agree though that maybe the wording of Kimo Sabe's thread title could have been a little more subtle. <ok>

    Well said sparkey.
    Grief is probably THE most personal of emotions, and people should have the right to handle their grief in their own way and without suggestions of them being disrespectful. Most on here seem to be acting with a high degree of respect and posting their feelings in the dedicated threads. Just because they want to talk about other matters doesn't make them any less respectful - it could just be part of their coping mechanism. I think while the football bosses have decided that games should go ahead, we have a right to talk about them without having our respect called into question.

    Speedo loved the game, and I bet he wouldn't have wanted games cancelled............whilst games are being played, well it's only right fans discuss them, it's not disrespectful, and I'm pretty sure that Gary Speed wouldn't have taken it that way...........the best thing for Gary would be for a Welsh club to make the semi finals..........I fancy us to pinch it in extra time <ok>

    This is a nice thread because it makes the forum feel more like a community than before. People who (for the most part) don't know each other are being brought together in the most unexpected way. The need to move on, the need to discuss, the need, even, jun time (not yet) to joke. I hope that that can be sustained, somehow.

    What struck me was Kenny Dalglish words, "There's no way that a game of football is more important than grieving." he's right, of course and he makes Shankly's (perhaps tongue in cheeks) comments about the importance of football seem incredibly glib. Kenny's words come from a man who knows. SHeffield and Heysel are testimony to that.

    We will move on, but it will take time. Tonight, I don't really care about the BR game, otherwise I'd be there . . . with an imaginary pick and shovel.

    Heaven only knows what compelled Gary Speed to take his life (and I do wish people like Joey Barton would temper his 'opinions') but whatever his reasons were I think he'll always be loved by most. Yes, loved.
