Chris Westwood- Getting Towards Retirement, not fast enought and genrealy useless. Dave Windfield- Waste of 24k ask me cant head a ball and clumsy and stupid. Alan Bennet- Dont get me started on him, hes to scared to kick ball with power or head a ball. No imagination stands there kicks out of play. Never looks up and makes to many mistakes costs us goals. Luckly we have one solid centre back for this level, and his name is Leon Johnson. His partner we need a brave person who can dive in to takles and head a ball. Not world class but decent. Any Sussgetions? IF you were in Charge? Finaly are wing backs is fine Andy Sandell is qaulity and Marvin Mcoy seems to get better every week. And danny foster decent enought cover. As well Ian westlake is coming back in two months hes a good player.
Can't agree with Steve about Winfield, I think he is pretty solid and should be first choice centre back alongside Leon Johnson. It has been massively frustrating to see LJ out injured for so long but now he is fit HE HAS TO PLAY!!
Nothing wrong with Winfield, I think he's mostly been very good for us. He's still very young and easily has the potential to be at the heart of our defence for a long time. Don't know how Westwood can be described as generally useless, he's had a good season. His experience has been valuable for us, he's calm on the ball and what he lacks in pace he makes up for in positional awareness. I don't think it's a coincidence that we've conceded so many set piece goals since he's been injured. Centre halves will make mistakes sometimes at this level, they can't all be Mike Williamsons or Roger Johnsons. Bennett has been a big let down, he looked good when he first joined on loan but has gone down hill since. I like Leon, but injuries have caught up with him. It's clear Waddock doesn't rate him, maybe because he doesn't want to rely on someone so injury prone. We will need a couple more centre halves if we go up.

I actually think we have some decent options at the back. In the games I have seen this year we have had 3 pretty solid players in Westwood, Winfield and Leon. I haven't seen much of AB this year, but I thought he looked good last season. I love Leon for his committment and tackling, but you have to admit he's not as confident on the ball as Winfield and Westwood? But, we are conceding goals. The first on Saturday looked like 3 midfielders all fell for the dummy step over and left the guy free. The second was one of those headers that strikers often win but don't go in. It just happened to fly into the top corner. So, I wouldn't reallly blame the centre halves for those. For all the games I haven't seen, have we been that bad?
i agree we have missed westwood he organises the defense and we wouldnt have conceded all those set piece goals if he had have been there.
Im very pleased with the capture of winfield think he could play at a very high level, Bull has already come out and said that in years to come big dave could play at the top.
agree with rocky on Westwood totally. Since he has been out we can not defend set pieces to save our life's at the moment.

Yeah, would prefer a crocked Woodgate or King to any of the Gooners centre backs. Reckon Ledley with one knee could do a better job
