Sorry pal but you're way off here, just cannot agree with that. You don't have Ronaldo in your pocket all game by being a crap defender, and not just that one game either, his defensive ability led to the comparisons with Maldini.

Did you watch the game where he marked Ronaldo so much, they switched him to the other wing?

Edit Tino already did the pleasures ^^

Shame I'd like to see him and Santon pushing each other for the berth in the future. Simpson was by no means great against Norwich but he was ok and it can't be easy beside Perch. Prior to that he had been one of our top performers for the previous 5 games. Really impressed me the way he has knuckled down after a suspect start tot he season.

Hmm Simpson and Viduka, I'm struggling to see the similarities. One was a free loader who'd up his game to get a new contract. The other is a fully committed team player who has helped drag us out of the **** the likes of Viduka caused. He should be commended for his attitude towards contracts talks. I don't know whether he is being greedy or the club are being twats, but I'd want my players to have his "I'll show you what I'm worth attitude". Him and Viduka are nothign alike as Simpson has been performing consistently since he arrived despite some off field tribulations.

    This ^^

We do not know what he has been offered by the club, so it is unreasonable to criticise him for not signing. He always gives 100% on the pitch, which is as much as we can ask from our players.

I don't think he's a world beater but to me he is the perfect competition for Santon. Santon cannot play every game because of his knee problems. You need a solid reliable full back to back him up. To me I've just described Danny Simpson. He's still improving too.

As you say I don't understand this willingness to blame Simpson. Just like with Nolan and Barton, we don't know the facts of the matter. So I wouldn't criticise Simpson, or the club for that matter.

No qualms with Danny over this, I'm not gonna blame him. Maybe he knew his days were number, and lets be honest, with Santon here and players like Taiwo and Cissokho being linked, it was only a matter of time. Committed to the cause, loved the club, made an effort to connect with the fans via twitter and hasn't been on any embarrassing Bartonesque rants!

I like Simmo, always gives his all, makes some great blocks and seems a cracking bloke. Would be disappointed to see him go.
