Just read this on FootballTransferheaven. The blogger was talking about Arsenal:

Without wanting to show Newcastle fans any disrespect, I can’t help but wonder if their Senegalese forward Demba Ba could be an option. Newcastle have lost enough players to ‘bigger’ clubs in recent years and will be keen to keep hold of their leading goal scorer. Despite this, however, I’m sure that plenty of top teams will be keeping tabs on Ba this January.

He has scored 11 goals this season (the same number as Sergio Aguero) in the Premier League alone. He has been nothing short of prolific and given the fact that he was also successful in a poor West Ham side last season it’s fair to say that he has proved himself in the League.

But he’s not yet at a stage where he could command an exorbitant price-tag. As such the Gunners could pick him up at a relatively reasonable price, should they persuade Newcastle to sell.
    ................................................

The bloke must be short of copy to come up with this drivel. <doh>

Personally it makes my blood boil. Get your own scouting talent sorted before nicking our gems!!!!

Hardly arrogant. Arsenal are a much bigger team than us, and if they want him...

MA will be keen to sell soon. They'll have to pay £20-25m if they want him though, his goal scoring record warrants that much.

Look at what happened last time.

Newcastle striker proves himself over half a season.
'Bigger' club in dire need of a striker approaches
Said club is sitting on a large transfer kitty after selling star player
We sell for £35m (rising to £40m)

    Compared to now...

Newcastle striker proves himself over half a season
'Bigger' club in dire need of a striker approaches
Said club is sitting on a large transfer kitty after selling star player
We sell at a 'reasonable price'

    Yeah, sounds about right.

How is that arrogance? It's an opinion and a well worded and balanced one at that.

Ba will interest other clubs because he's a proven goal scorer and has shown that his knee concern was unjustified. I don't think he'll be a 'cheap' purchase for another club though.

I don't see the problem, apart from him thinking that we would let him go relatively cheaply.
Ba has been excellent this year and other clubs will be looking at him. Everyone knows that ALL our players will be sold if the price is right so I fail to see any arrogance.

The only incorrect point in the whole thing is that they'd be able to get him at a reasonable price. Otherwise everything he states is fact, and even says he doesn't want to show us any disrespect. I know its a slow news day, but really worth a thread?

You get outraged at some odd stuff holystone.

I think Ba's potential knee injury and age (wont get any better) will keep away a lot of bigger clubs.

Hardly jaw-dropping. Many people on here have talked about in form players, mostly from other leagues, and wanted them to come to Newcastle. And what do you mean "get your own scouting talent sorted"? We didn't exactly 'scout' him when he had already played in the PL and scored a few goals..

The Arsenal bit is fair enough, but the "plenty of top teams" is a load of ****. I can't see any team bigger than us wanting him.

Ba and Van Persie would be class together. But they wouldnt change their system for him, so he'd had to be on the bench for a lot of games. Also, if they want cover for the injury prone RVP, is the injury prone Ba really the answer?

Really? Theres a certain team requiring a good big lad up top since their last one was an overpriced flop, plus Tottenham only have Adebayor on loan, Ba's wages would be nowhere near his. Not that I'm seeing either of them would come in, but 'keeping tabs'? He's scored 11 goals, I'm sure they've noticed.

Is Ba injury prone though? He hasn't missed a league game at club level for almost 2 years...

Fair enough, but he's not exactly without risk is he? We didn't pay any money for him but if Arsenal shelled out £15m+ for him it would be more of a risk.

I don't see him leaving for a bigger club tbh. This thing with his knee (whether it is actually a problem or not) means that the top clubs will probably go for other targets, as they can afford to be incredibly selective when it comes to signing players.

Ba will never command a fee over £10 million due to his knee. Therefore there is no point in selling him.

This original article was a very good one and it is on a similar to scale to us saying that we would like a player from Wigan, so there is no arrogance.
