Now I didn't witness the Orient game, but today I was astounded by the total lack of effort, commitment - call in what you will - by BWP.
By all accounts it was the same vs The O's
Now call it conspiracy theory but could he be on the way out?

We all know about his medical problems, so has CP had an offer he cant refuse?
We have after all just signed Clarke, and to my knowledge BWP has not agreed a new contract.

What would be the feeling if this happened?

He has been called integral, our heartbeat, essential to promotion.. and rightly so imo.

Is it all really just because he hasnt scored lately ? As even when he was scoring goals everyone was saying the same, in that he was lazy, didnt do much and just happened to score with his one or two chances.

If this is the case, surely he deserves time and patience and not to be dumped so quickly. Isn't the chance of promotion and another hatful of goals more important than a few dollars and in league 1 perhaps again ??

Do you also post under the handle "Jonathan P Acworth"? I always knew you were a little eccentric from your pigheaded denial of Parkinson's managerial genius.

The poor guy needs a rest, that's all. Every game he gets flattened (twice today) or several times tripped or pushed over when running at full speed. He has played almost every minute of every game, and these things take a toll after six months. If you look at the top teams, guys like him get rested from time to time to keep them fresh. We have cover in every position except right-back and his, and both he and Solly could do with a break. I hope they both get one for the Fulham game. (I would love to go to Fulham with a full-strength team and show how good we are against Premiership opposition, but that game is followed by possibly our two most important remaining league games, so we have to be aware of our priorities).

Well, if it was really an offer the owners (not CP) couldn't refuse, then it logically follows that they will accept it. The owners made it clear right from the start that we will be a selling club, whether developing youngsters to sell, or buying players cheaply and selling them for sizable sums. We have added a lot of value to Morrison, Wiggins, Kermorgant and BWP (among others). All these are now very saleable and one day they will be sold. I reckon if someone offered £1.5million for BWP we would sell. But as far as I know, no-one has, except in Acworth's fantasy world.

Clarke may or may not turn out to be a good signing, but I don't think anyone considers him a replacement for BWP. Totally different sort of player.

BWP has my full support. Wouldn't say he looks uninterested.. He's just going through a bad patch.

Strange H, what I saw today was a guy giving his all, got NO protection from the Ref whatsoever and nothing he tried seemed to come off. His normal flicks, protection of the ball and running into space were there but that final little bit of magic was missing. It's not that he isn't trying it is just things aren't going his way that's all, a goal off his knee or his arse will sort it <ok>

I thought he was awful today tbh. Nothing he tried came off and his shot that went for a throw summed his day up.

That said, I wouldn't consider dropping him, one goal will get a huge cheer from the crowd (if it comes at home) and the confidence will return.

Certainly felt he chased more balls today than he has for a few games.

BWP's job at the end of the day is to score goals nothing else - He's managed that 14 times this season; I thought people wanted a Striker who scored 20+ goals a season??

BWP was beaten up today every time he got the ball. The ref's handling of the situation was bloody awful. OK, in most of the situations the Brentford guys got the ball, but the follow-throughs were with the intent of causing injury. Thought it was disgusting. How anyone can accuse him of lack of effort astonishes me... he's not going to be at the centre of everything and he needs service, but to suggest that he's giving less than 100% is shocking. I wouldn't take 1.5 mill if offered tomorrow, or even double that... what's the cost of a promotion? BWP will score a hatful in the 2nd half of the season... he would always have a 'barren' run where opposing teams double up on him... and look what's happened, Kermit now has the space to wreak havoc.

HE'S BETTER THAN SHAUN!!

Dont get me wrong - I do not want to see him go.
I am only putting 2 and 2 together and no doubt coming up with 5.
Eddie - I see Parky back to normal service today ;)

Houndal, are you really saying that you don't believe we'd be 5 points clear at the top of the league if he was still in charge? Am sure the current Bantams faithful will berate you for blasphemy...

If your hunch comes true H I for one will be distraught...!!

We must keep BWP at all costs. Getting rid of him for whatever amount of money will undoubtedly imho have an impact on our promotion aspirations. BWP is in my view the most natural goal scorer we’ve had since the glory of our premiership years…

I don’t buy into this lazy, lack of effort/commitment assessment of him. He is a pure goal scorer who wishes to do just that every single time he walks onto the pitch. He therefore does what he needs to do in order to ensure he puts himself in quality positions to stick the ball in the back of the net. Hence, why we rarely see him busting a gut to sprint after lost causes, run the channels, or dropping deep in search of the ball. He does serious damage and hurts the opposition when he's in and around their box. That's more than enough for me...!!

Gary Lineker, could be described as a lazy so and so yet his goal scoring record speaks for itself. As does BWP’s 22 goals in 43 appearences for us, an average of over a goal every other game.

I’ve already said as much on another thread but, any Charlton fan who’s digging him out for his lack of goals of late is an absolute moron. All goal scorers go through lean spells at some point over the course of a season. A player of BWP’s ilk thrives on being confident in their game. It’s therefore up to both us fans and his teammates to support him through this dry patch.

Why…? Because he’s that rare and much sought after commodity in our game… A genuine goal machine, and every team needs one of those don’t they…?

I'm sorry to say that the negative comments towards BWP have not just been on here, some fans felt it necessary to give him grief on twitter and he left. Just don't get it , how does that help us??

You often get numpty's who pose as a (example) CAFC fan, but in fact supports a rival and just gives abuse.

But I don't doubt 95% of them were CAFC "fans". They are idiots.

Can't quite understand why anybody would think BWP is disinterested. He chased everything yesterday, at one point he lost the ball at the halfway line, and chased the player all the way back to our box to retrieve it.

He's trying just as hard if not harder than he had been, but he's just suffering from low moral/poor service/rough defenders.
