Lee will be signed by then by the looks of it. Albert Adomah would be great too.

"We do need to be as strong as possible.

"The January window is now here and it gives an opportunity to try and purchase players or bring players in on loan to give us an opportunity to go and win this division.

"We don't play in the league now until January 14 when we play Nottingham Forest so between now and then there are a couple of weeks when hopefully we can do a little bit of business.

The difficulty with Lee being available to play, could be a delayed work permit.... that's down to slow pen pushers.

Lee is an international player who has quite a few caps in 2011, but don't think he's a certainty for a work permit. He's one the FA will look at closely, especially as we don't have the clout that the PL clubs do.

This isn't what we need, we need an established prem/champ striker who won't need time to adapt to the english game.

We must have some players in the pipeline if Nigel is talking about having signings before the Forest game, though they would be more likely to be loans.

I said elsewhere, that "settling in" at a new club doesn't always mean it's easier for an English player than a foreign player. One mis hit shot in the bottom corner on his debut will settle anyone in to a team.

I know we are talking different abilities, but you have raisd the non- Englsih bit as the reason for needing time to settle ..... what about Suarez. Looked pretty damn good at Liverpool after about 10 minutes! Pahars was an instant hit, so was Ostenstadt, so was Berkovic and several others. It can be done. Some settle quick, others don't.

Anyone in the recruitment business will tell you that whatever the company, whatever the role, recruitment is a 50:50 gamble. Some work, some don't.

Yes,Suarez settle in well at Liverpool because he had already been playing Europe(Ajax) for awhile and was used to the culture,so when he went to England he didn't need too much time to settle. On the other hand,Tadanari Lee is coming from Japan where the culture, way of life, landguage, food is completly different to Europe and the U.K...It could take him a very long time to settle in or it may not(I hope I'm wrong) but as you said one miss it shot would help him settle in to the team etc.

The thing with Suarez is that he was already used to living in Europe and the different culture. One the other hand,Tadanari Lee comes from Japan which is a totally different 'world' to the U.K and the rest of Europe. It might take him a while to get used to things.

Although i'd back Adkins if this Lee came in it wouldn't fill me with much hope, looking on the guys wikipedia he hasn't exactly been prolific in front of goal in Japan and like everyone else has said the culture thing may take a few months for the guy to settle in.In my opinion he may be worth a gamble for the future but in terms of the here and now i'm a bit sceptical. If he is signed i hope it's meant as a bonus signing and not one of our bigger signings, sorry for being downbeat but i just think we need someone to hit the ground running especially as Rickies now out for 3 games.

If Lee is coming to us at least he sounds happy about it and excited. Fed up with Saints being treated as the second option, when we know it's the greatest team in the world.

Saying that, though, Torres wasn't a particularly prolific striker before he went to Liverpool. Then after two prolific seasons, and one dud when he went to Chelsea he became even less prolific! Depends on the potential Nigel sees, and the system he has planned for him. I definitely trust him - why else (bar price, which I don't imagine is the priority for us, given our relative financial stability and the financial prize at stake) look so far overseas and go through a potentially annoying permit process when you can pick up a ready-made prolific striker over here who would be happy to join the Championship's top club? Reckon Nigel has a strategy here with this guy - perhaps a big marquee signing who he thinks will work perfectly with a player like Lee? SE Asian players have been successful over here too - rate Lee at Bolton, Park at Man Utd., Nakamura at Celtic, and that guy who scored that class goal for Sunderland at the weekend: talk about hitting the ground running! Cool as a cucumber - or a water chestnut, at any rate...

Considering the supply business we have with Arsenal and Spurs, why can't we sort out some regular loans of some of their players?? Loan us O-C back! Or Bale.

Just having a moment now - imagine we had managed to keep hold of Walcott, Bale, and O-C...
