Local Brentford rag has us linked with the above gentleman, apparently 23 yr old CB, for whom (allegedly) we had 4 offers rejected in the Summer.
Now firstly does anyone know anything about him, and secondly do we need another CB?
    Didn't play on Monday.

We were chasing him all summer, as well as another Brentford CB, can't quite remember who but I think it may have been Leon Legge. Not sure we need another CB. Some may say he'd be a good replacement for Doherty, but I'd rather get rid of him and make Mambo 4th choice CB.

Mambo is not up to it.I have been watching him through the under 18s and if we are promoted he is not up to standard.Probably not good enough for the first division.

Dick, in 2010 I said to FHB that Jenkinson was the best of the youngsters being promoted to the first team, I think FHB thought it was Mambo. We agreed that they were very close so taking into account that Jenkinson is now part of Arsenal's first team squad are you saying that Mambo is not good enough for ours?

Mambo is not Prem quality but could do a job as back up/ball winning centre back in the Champ in my opinion.

We lost Primus and Turner because we didn't give them a chance, are we going to do the same with Mambo?

Though Yaddo Mambo was outstanding in the Carling Cup match against Reading. And Reading didn't play a weaker team, we did.

I don't think he was picked for the 2nd Round match against Preston, was Docherty and look what happened. We lost. Think he has potential, but only if he's playing at a League Two or League One level. I wouldn't keep loaning him out to all these Blue Square sides.

Before he was given his chance by CP a lot of "experts" said the same about Solly as Dick is saying about Mambo.

    Solly = F****** QUALITY!

For a small fella, christ, can he hold his own. And if I can recollect, he's played every league match (full 90 minutes) this season. Lets just hope he doesn't get injured, as I don't think that there is a suitable replacement for him.

I've seen very little of Mambo, only the few friendlies and cup matches he's featured in, but I've never seen him put a foot wrong. In the pre-season game against Wimbledon (pre-2010/2011 season), I felt he was a bit anonymous but a strong attacking threat from set pieces. In the cup game against Reading he was superb.

As for Karleigh Osborne, anyone else think he sounds like he belongs in the womens team? <laugh>

    Beat me to it!

Reading his bio on Wikipedia it seems that he could fit into the Kermorgant/Clarke category. A challenge to CP to resurrect a once promising career that has gone off the rails a bit. Captained Brentford a few times at 20, then loaned out. Played a prominent part in their promotion charge to Div One, then loaned out again. Strange sequence. Probably more skilled and certainly more experienced than Mambo, but why would "Kylie" want to move from being fourth choice CB at Brentford to being fourth choice CB at Charlton? Wouldn't he be better off being first choice at a smaller club and try to attract admirers that way?

Just my opinion about Mambo,i have seen him in over 25 games.Just don't think he is good enough.I thought that Michael Turner would make it as a pro and also Danny ****tu.

We bought Danny Shi ttu from Carshalton for a load of shirts and a packet of fags - he didnt come through our youth team.

He played for our under 19 team,as it was then, for a couple of seasons. We indeed got him from Carshalton, all i said was i watched him come through our youth team, which he did.Solly started at Arsenal, but came through our youth team.Harry Gerrard started with West Ham,but played with our under 16s and is now in the under 18 team. There are lots of youngsters who start with another club and for whatever reason don't make it and join another academy.

I remember the tale of ****tu's thighs being so big that they had to cut a line in each leg of his bicycle shorts. I use ****tu as a marker for how good young defenders are... never understood the decision to get rid of him.

Turner was another - didn't he win our YPOTY then get released?

Turner and ****tu were both sold for decent chunks of money, 350k for Turner and undisclosed six figures for ****tu, which seems a reasonable thing to do if our staff at the time didn't think they were going to break into our Premier league squad any time soon, it's not like we just left them in a box outside another club and done a runner like a bunch of zebra smugglers.

Getting rid of Turner, ****tu and Primus were mistakes. The proof is that we have been paying bigger money for inferior central defenders since. Curbs didn't make many mistakes (though more towards the end of his reign) and it doesn't make him a bad manager, so there is no harm in owning up to those he did make.

All successful managers have let good players slip through their fingers. I would say a 60/40 success rate in assessing players is about the best they can aspire to over many seasons, whereas 40/60 is for poor struggling managers. Dowie was in a stratum of his own and so was Pardew when with us, though he has made some terrific calls at Newcastle this season with comparative unknowns.

I don't think we got anything like £350,000 for Turner. Maybe £150,000 at best. £350,000 is the figure for which Brentford sold him to Hull. Why would they want to sell him for the same figure they paid, when they had turned him from a reject into a star (their player of the year three seasons in succession?)

We got a very nominal fee for Turner, but with a high sell on if I remember right? ****tu went for 350k. I thought they signed him with lottery money(or something similar), but just checked wiki and it was a fan who financed the move.
