I think we should just prepare ourselves for 'news' articles about the 'prices' of basically every player we have. After all, it's January and the whole world 'knows' what Newcastle do in January.

That's a lot of inverted commas.

Doubt Krul would go. Who has that kind of money to buy a keeper who doesn't have a good one already? Krul hardly going to sit on the bench at a CL club when he can play week in week out for us, he wants to get himself noticed and playing regularly ahead of the Euros.

LOL if he does ever end up going it'll be for a hell of a lot more than any £15million.

    <laugh> imagine that article!!

    JAMES PERCH SLAPPED!

Newcastle have put to bed rumours suggesting that Man Utd, Liverpool and Aston Villa could be ready to slap utility child James Perch, by slapping the lightweight headless chicken themselves first.

The hapless fish out of water is said to be too absent minded to consider a slap from any other club at the moment and his thoughts are said to be firmly with NUFC... Sometimes.

When asked outside Newcastle's Benton training ground yesterday if he was aware of any slaps being made he simply brushed aside the issue by saying "ehhh, whaaa?" before kicking our reporter in the ankle and receiving a yellow card.

It's quite depressing that if we got the right offer, we'd sell our entire team.

agree, even if there is a price we would take, there is no reason to go and tell everyone anyway as surley you would want to try and get as much as you can for a player and saying what you want is a stupid thing to do.

Don't think we would. What makes you say that? Who have we sold? Carroll? Who apparently wanted to leave? Jose? Who wasn't going to sign a new contract? Nolan? Barton?
We haven't sold any of the new guys who are on reasonable contracts since the cost cutting.
I don't think many clubs would reach our asking prices. Lambiarse said some comment about "you don't know how mean we are" Pardew said "clubs would find it very difficult agreeing an asking price with our owner & chairman", I've seen nothing from the club saying we'd let players go.

Was having a think about our outgoing players the other day and felt a little bit better about the whole situation.

Lets look at who has left the club recently:

Enrique- was allegedly offered a new deal but wanted to go off in search of champions league football, why he chose Liverpool I'll never know but whos to say we wouldnt have kept him?

Barton- Just didnt know when to keep his mouth shut, the board stood by him when he was locked up and Pardew said on many occasions that he would like to keep him, could have seen out his contract with us if he loved us that much but chose to leave for championship fodder QPR.

Carroll- 35 million? Who could really turn that down? This is the only example of us flogging our best assets really, this is the only one we probably could have kept if we knocked the offer back, but in hindsight do you blame them taking the 35?

Nolan- Wanted a 5 year contract, 5 YEARS! he was never a great player, was a good poacher for us and nothing more, refused a new deal with us because it wasnt 5 years so we got rid.

I dont trust Ashley and co, for a second but as it stands, we havent really sold our best assets under Pardew, and until we do I'll stay optimistic and hope we are putting a top team together rather than flog off its components.

I don't think we'd get offered the amount needed for the players, but I don't doubt Ashley would sell all our best players if we were offered silly money for them.

This is the point I was trying to make (you put it a lot better than me)

If you add the comments Lambiarse & Pardew have made fairly recently I see no reason to believe all the paper talk that we're a "selling club". I'm sure (as we saw with Carroll) Ashley would drive a very hard bargain before he'd let a 1st team player go.

I doubt most clubs would ignore 'silly money' offers for players. Every player at every club has a value.
