MANAGERIAL UPDATE Posted on: Tue 10 Jan 2012 Work is ongoing behind the scenes to appoint a new manager at Bristol Rovers. Chairman Nick Higgs says that the club are working hard to make sure they bring the right man to the club. He said: "We have received a large number of applications for the post and we have now drawn up a short list. "Whilst we appreciate that it is important to get a new man in as soon as possible, it is necessary that we appoint the right person. "We need someone who is going to get this club back on track and start moving us in the right direction. "For that reason we want to make sure we have the right man and will not rush into making a decision. "ShaunVictor Meldrew (sorry couldn't resist it) has come forward to take control of team affairs during this difficult time, and I would like to thank him for this hard work. "I would also like to thank you for your continued support during this difficult time."
doubt he called north - victor meldrew loool interesting the higgs has said just drew up the shortlist. meaning no interviews taken place yet. a week on from sacking buckle and no interviews taken place yet! thats crazy! guess that means SOD hasnt turnt us down after all as we didnt offer him a job as shortlist only just draw up!
What Higgs said sounded like it had been cut and pasted from before the last two management debacles. I'm not overly confident.
Or maybe Sod was already interviewed, the club were confident they could land him, but couldn't agree terms, or GJ was lined up but the club noticed the fans reaction and have now gone back to the drawing board. Or maybe BRFC are not such a catch for some managers has you'd like to believe, maybe they're scouring the blue square at this very moment!
I ****ing give up with Rovers. I cant be arsed anymore. What a waste of ****ing time! Higgs ****s off on Holiday and no **** bothers to do anything until he gets back....He is the worst ****er ever for appointing managers, as all of the ones he have appointed will prove! I am quickly losing the will to live here!
I tried, found it better to kick **** out of the neighbours pussy though, she could stand more punishment
Debacle more like a total fiasco. What do they say about British leaders in war, "Lions led by Donkeys" were more like "Donkeys led by Chimpanzees". trouble with business people trying to run football clubs is that Higgsy probably thinks the manager has to have a funny handshake.
Sorry Airbus. The game of football is a sport. Football Clubs are a business. The only time the Business side should intefere with the Playing side is when appointments or dismissals are made for the people in charge of the playing staff. Its important that we have a good set of business men on the Board who make the right decisions about such appointments and the financial ruuning of the club etc. Having made the wrong decisions so often recently our Board can be forgiven for taking all the advice and time neede to make the right decision this time.
Sapphire, IMO this is possibly the worst time ever for them ****ers to take their time. We are in the middle of a transfer window, with no manager to get players in. We are sitting ugly down the bottom of the football league, with non league football a real possibility for us if it is not sorted quickly. We dont have time to fanny around looking at different managers. Bring a manager in now, and then when the season ends, look around for a quality manager who can take us forward surely??
I just dont want another pratt. We have had too many. But IMO they should have been keeping an eye on the ball before Xmas as they could see the writing on the wall, the same as the rest of us. Most clubs seem to have a pretty good idea who they are going to approach as soon as the last occupant vacates the chair. My immediate reaction for the delay was that Warnock unexpectedly appeared on the market place and any Board under the circumstances would have to consider his position. For some reason football managers get too long contracts and do not seem to accept temporary contracts. I agree the transfer window is closing quickly and that is a real worry for everybody. I see complaints about Higgs being in Italy, but most firms nowadays communicate with video conferencing facilities, so I dont see that Higgs would need to do anything differently.
Sapphire. You are correct it is a business. But look around, many are going to the wall. Look at all the clubs now in the Conference. Clubs that have gone into administration. I just don't want the GAS going there. We have had crap manager upon crap manager. As I have said before, get someone who doesn't mind us playing dirty
