bollocks....sorry but for me this should be a match we should be winning..we should be intelligent enough to find away through after 90 minutes.....thats where we are doubted.
Now all we're going to be hearing about is Spurs bottling it with a chance to go level at the top, when it's more about the poxy ref than anything else. Very, very frustrating and it means that the game against City becomes even bigger now.
We really need to work on a lot of things. We don't set up right against 'these' teams. Stoke, Wolves and even Swansea to an extent all set up in a 'come at us' formation and we struggle to break them down. Remember when Bale became well known after Inter Milan and defenders began double marking him - Bale became less effective for a while. This is the same situation - these teams know they can't take us in an open game and so (correctly on their part) they set up defensive and we become less effective. It's up to us to evolve our tactics and play better when we go up against a team 'parking the bus.'
Your next few games are hard, to say the least. City,Wigan, Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal then United. Enjoy.
Big shame we didn't win that. Technically the linesman lost us that but you've got to look at what was some poor finishing from us and the defending for their corner was shocking whether it should have been a corner or not.
Those are the decisions that make the difference though, YV. He wouldn't have dared give that at Old Trafford.
Without a doubt they're hard games however, I think City, Liverpool, Arsenal and United will set up in a more open fashion (rather than pulling a Stoke or Wolves and packing the defence). An open formation suits our style and I reckon we'll be better for it.
Which isn't necessarily such a bad thing, PNP. Although we looked rather like our quiet neighbours from the library today (tippy-tappy no end product), we've always been a 'big game' team under Harry- the lads tend to up their game for the occasion. In all honesty, there's no better time to play them than the present- key players missing & all that. I for one would love to see another striker come in between now and the city game, and see what we're like w/o Ade. I've been very impressed with his overall contribution so far, but fecking Wolves at home are games he REALLY needs to be scoring in. I think his absence against city will force a fresher, more direct approach. Chelsea again unconvincing, although they grabbed the points. The less said about Liverpool and their 'master tactician' of a manager, the better. Hopefully Swansea will nick a few off Le Scum tomorrow.
Subbed off Carroll, brought on Downing. Yeah, take off your target man and bring on someone whose whole game is about crossing the ****ing ball. Makes Benitez look like a genius.
The linesman messed up a very tight call, the ref missed blatant touch off the Wolves player for their corner but also messed one up the other end for our corner when Walker had the last touch. Fact is Wolves at home shouldn't be a tight match but we played to their strengths in the first half, allowing them forward occasionally and not using our pace to counter. No need to panic though, if City lose tomorrow it's a point gained in the title race
If Liverpool set up like they did today with 5 defenders from the start,we most certainly won't lose. The games against Arsenal,City are much better for us as they will try and win the games.Which in turn suits Spurs far more than teams parking the bus. One thing, the ref managed to even up the not-corners by giving one to us when the ball clearly came off Walker last, unfortunately Dawson put the volley over the bar. Oh well we need a result against City now.
The ref also allowed Wolves a hell of a lot of leeway with their fouls, YV. He was very lenient at times. The thing that annoyed me about the corner that they scored from wasn't that the ref made mistake, it was that he just didn't use his brain. Walker was clearly shielding the ball out, while the Wolves player tried desperately to get any sort of touch on it. If the last touch was off one of our players, then neither of those things would've been happening. Walker would've cleared it and the Wolves player would've been happy to see it go behind for a corner.
Twat on the BBC live feed saying that Adebayor's controversially ruled out goal must've been offside, despite not actually having seen it. There's a few quid of licence-fee cash that they could claw back.
I'd agree he was lenient. I think our players needed to take them on more and draw the fouls. If they're going to cheat, let them but make sure the ref has no choice but to punish them. Ref's can't be expected to go simply on the player's reaction though, it was a silly call but how many times do you see players try and con the ref?
I agree that the ref shouldn't go purely on Walker's reaction YV, but the Wolves player's actions should've informed his decision, too. He was desperate to keep it in, which he wouldn't be if a Spurs player had got the last touch.
