Darlington's administrators have terminated the contracts of the club's interim manager Craig Liddle and the remaining playing staff.

Never nice to see happen to a club. Hope someone comes in and saves them.

Also it's the local businesses and suppliers who lose out when sort of thing happens. There will be dozens of them. Everyone forgets about them, Allam didn't.

I've got a load of friends (might need a manager) who could fill in those places and give the fans a team to support....wonder if I can catch City's eye. The dream starts here.

Sad sad day. This is all caused by Sky and the greed that the Prem has fostered. Surely football has to correct itself and stop being a money pit where ordinary players are paid extortionate wages!!! I love the Championship because the football is still real, and players are playing for their livelihoods. Nice to see Barmby given a chance, he could well take the Tigers up this season. Injury free and I reckon you will be in the play offs at least.

Thanks mate - a nice sentiment (about us) and I'm with you on the Sky argument. (And I despise that greedy, power-hungry Cobber!)

Papa Allam should by Darlo and use it to develop our youngsters and give the reserves a run out

It's isn't to do with sky at all. It's about that club having attendances of around 2k recently generating a monthly turnover of around 50k. Some shops have that turnover but dont have to pay to upkeep a white elephant in addition to all other outgoings.
There are clubs with much smaller clubs who are managing to make ends meet.

You can blame Sky for mostr things except how clubs spend the money they give them. In this particular case I think George Reynolds might shoulder a touch of the pointy finger of blame!

Yeah, ok, ok, it's not strictly down to Sky, I know - but Sky's money (and the greed of the Prem) has completely warped the structure and finances of league football.

....and the F.A? Forget it - sweet F.A!

Be careful what you wish for with Sky.

Yes they completely rule the game these days but let's not forget that before their emergence football was dying on its feet. So for that matter was eggchasing.

Out of interest, how much do Sky pump in and how much remains in football at the likes of Darlington? I suspect the lions share of the Sky money leaves football in the pockets of a relatively few players. Only a guess though, happy to be proven wrong.

Darlo will never survive whilst they are playing in that white elephant of a stadium with the crowds they get. It's scary to think that it could have been so different for us if we had not gone on our amazing promotion run after moving to the KC. What sort of crowds would we be getting if we were still in League 2?

Yeah - when you click on the link, the Stadium looks enormous (what is the capacity, by the way - anyone know?) and for a Conference club!!!

You're right, Jools - what state would we be in now, if we were still in League 2?

Capacity is 25k - but the seats are so close together its unreal - looks a fraction of the size of the KC.

Darlo unlike us never had the fan base to justify the building of such a stadium.
