Just saw that Newcastle have spent £10m on a new striker so can't see them coming in for Nicky now so thats one less club who has been linked with him recently now wanting him.

It might be that no-one else shares the same dream as Sir Nicky. Will be interesting if not one club asks him to join their table and what he will do then. Let's be brutally honest his goal scoring prowess has disappeared and a huge ego has taken it's place.

'goal scoring prowess has disappeared and a huge ego has taken it's place'

Invermike - Think you're guilty of taking notice of a few fans on here, what's 'Sir Nicky' all about?
Maynard's not scoring because of the pathetic supply he receives (and it's getting worse).
    Even Rooney would struggle.
I disagree about 'a huge ego'. His hangdog expression is all about the 'supply', nothing else.
And I certainly don't blame him from wanting to 'better himself' as I suspect most of us are guilty of that (nobody blames you for living in Canada!). He's a young man with a very short career trying to do the best for himself and family.

We need to be 100% behind the team, whoever plays, and not allow perceived 'egos' get in the way of our support for City.

Some of your comments are spot on redprint but these players are paid well to perform and I don't think Nicky's mind is in the right place. His dreams are fine but in the meantime at least show you're still interested in your current employer. I don't think he is!

Most strikers who have hit the wall will blame the supply of bricks and the tools needed to do the bricklaying.

Redprintt - no one should stop the lad doing his best for his family financially. You are correct - all of us would move to a new employer to better ourselves. The issue is that footballers and other sports stars in in a very different world to "us" in that they sign a contract and are guaranteed payment irrespective of whether in our opinion they earn it or not. After that idiot Bosman blew open the doors, players gained a huge upper hand in transfer dealings in that after a contract was served, they were free to move on. Clubs thus are faced with a terrible dilema - give a guy a much longer contract than they want to so they increase the chance of the player moving whilst still under contract but risk paying a player who loses form and may not feature for the first team for literally years. Most football clubs are bleeding money because of this.

Players and agents - 99% of them at least - are greedy and have no loyalty to their club. It's all about money to them, which I understand. What I don't understand is why they (players / agents PFA / football league) cannot try and insulate the smaller clubs from financial losses when star players move for nothing. Transfer money is the lifeblood of lower league sides and a good player could easily sign a contract extension with an opt out clause so at least the club isn't fuc#ed. Granted, they may lose some of the huge signing bonus if the acquiring club has to pay a transfer but these greedy swines don't realize that without the small clubs and the league system, many of them would have never had the opportunity to improve their game and hence earn the big bucks.

Maynard could given the club a clear statement of intent before the season and we could have actively found him a suitable club and made enough money for a replacement. Instead he leads us up the garden path for 6 months.... that's poor form and a slap in the face for the club and supporters.

Tampa - what I dont understand is, if its all about money then why didnt these players become bankers instead. Its far easier to make money as a banker.
As a musician I subscribed to the belief that if you enter music for money then you would not get very far. Also if money is your objective then there are much easier ways of getting rich. Surely being a footballer means you are tied to the same philosophy.

I think a big issue that we have had for years is we lack a midfielder that can score us goals as all great teams have them from Man Utd with Nani, Chelsea with Lampard, Liverpool with Gerrard. QPR got promoted last season with taarabt and Southampton have lallana and west ham have Nolan this season. All midfielders who score goals and can assist and I think this is the key position that we lack but this is just me dreaming of having a player like that

Torres does not score for Chelsea; nor does the big lad at Liverpool. Only Van persie scores for Arsenal, and Demba Ba for Newcastle. We are no different, except that when Nicky doesn't score, then rarely does anyone else. Bradley Orr used to get a few, but our back line don't get any either, any more.

Redprintt I very often agree with many of your posts, but on this occasion I just cant, anyone can see by Maynards body language that he is not interested in being here. Its very, very obvious!
I wish him well at his new destination and don't begrudge his ambition but as in all relationships that break down, both parties need to move on. all thats happening now is he is sleeping in the spare room and wont move out! awkward....

As for why would you become a footballer to become rich? All kids good enough to get anywhere near becoming pro aren't thinking of the riches when they set out, 2 in 600 kids that go through various academies go on to make a living at football. but seems to me once those that do make it suddenly forget those childhood days of when they would play for the sheer fun of it!

No one has a problem with him wanting to better himself.
We all need to strive for the best in life, but after being looked after for a year earning money most people can only dream off,he has not played ball with the club.
The least he could have done was sign a deal, with a get out clause.
But no NM is looking after number 1.
On top of this he has not been playing well, nor showing interest.
He should be dropped, and I think we will see that Saturday.

Maynard is looking out for Maynard and I don't blame him. Its about time that BCFC looked out for BCFC and dropped him. Nothing personal - just business. I would have transfer listed him as soon as he refused to sign - we might have got more money for him then and bought a player who actually wants to play for us.
As I said, nothing personal and if he puts on the shirt I hope he does well, but if I were manager he wouldn't be wearing it.

Bad apple - as Redprint once said - and its damaging club morale.

I sit right behind the goal in the Ateyo end and believe me Nicky is peeved with the lack of service. He kept berating Albert and Stephen in the Millwall game for hitting high crosses into the box. City have got no variation out wide and hit the same high cross time and time again. Nicky isn't going to win those types of crosses and as a striker myself I understand him feeling peeved off. I wish Albert would get to the dead ball line more often and slam a low hard ball across the 6 yard box then we'll see Nicky's true attributes.

I've also said before that if Nicky does have any respect for the club he will sign a contract in Feb with a release clause of 6-8 million if he hasn't left in January. By all means aim high but if it were me and nobody wanted me in January I would be signing a contract instead of leaving for free in the summer to warm another teams bench. At least if someone bought me I'd know they actually wanted me as part of their plans and not just another squad player to play Carling Cup ties and when the other strikers were injured.

Nicky is still giving 100% there is no doubt in that. Stop being so fickle coz he wants to better himself.

I bet my car, house and everything in it (except the mrs!) that if he signed the dotted line tomorrow with us, he would be a hero and everyone would love him again!

Why was noone saying all this **** back in August? Nothing has changed since then, he didnt sign then and he hasnt signed now!

Lets not lower ourselves like the Fester fans have done with Beckford, one minute they were calling for his head, then he goes and scores a hatrick and everyone acclaims that NP has sorted him out!

Grrrrrr, some fans really piss me off!!

Errr everyone was saying sell him in the summer weren't they? No one wanted him to run down his contract and most people thought 6 or 7 million was a fantastic offer from Lesta. Trouble is he didn't want to go there so what can you do? While I agree he would score more with better service, I still think he misses too many sitters/one on ones to be a top striker. Just MHO

Service to the strikers has always been a problem. Albert can scare defenders with his pace and dribbling but the end ball isn't always great but he seems to be doing better shooting than crossing recently. On the left hand side it is non existence whether it is Woolford who seems to have lost all confidence or playing Pearson out there which i do not think works as he comes in too central as he wants the ball and with his talent you want him on the ball. The only times recently where we looked dangerous on both flanks is when Bolasie plays there but can he play 90 mins? as my firend who is a plymouth season ticket holder said when we bought him that one game he will be our best player and the next game he will be our worst as he just isn't consistant.

Watching the Millwall game recently for the first 10 minutes before Elliott got injured we dominated and Millwall must have wondered if they were playing against Bristol City or Man City as we kept the ball on the ground and passed it with players moving into the spaces. just shame our finishing wasn't as good as man city. Then Elliott went off Cisse came in and sat between the defence and midfield and pearson went even more central and then the defence started hitting 50 yard long balls to maynard and pitman. The strikers lost their service and we went from looking a very good team to poor.

BTW anyone know who Jacob Hopes is as he has been given the number 13 shirt (goalkeeper)?

"Nicky is still giving 100% there is no doubt in that"

Seriously, What are some of you lot watching? Some of you proclaim to have the played the game at a decent level, well anyone who knows anything about football can clearly see that Nick Maynard is not giving his all by a country mile. good service from midfield needs to be generated from movement in front of them, taking defenders in to channels and making space for others. any striker should be able to head a crossed ball. I played up front for 25 years and I know when a striker is interested or not! (his team mates will too!)

Believe me, those who think Maynard is currently a "hard working player" are now very much in the minority!

I don't see why Nicky wouldn't be putting as much effort in if not more. As there will be scouts watching him so better performances could lead to him moving clubs and there is the fact that he gets a goal bonus so the more he scores the more he earns so why would he chose to bum around.
If this was march or April then I may completely agree that he was just waiting for the summer to come and the season to finish but the transfer window is currently open.
