Its a sticky thread at the top of menu.. But its all very quiet at the moment. Nobody has any money......Lol. But Nottingham Forest have put in a 1 million pound bid for Francesco Schettino who is very good at escaping a sinking ship.
I saw his helicopter land on Hymers College this morning, but he was just having a look round Walton Street car boot.
Ow ld Mrs Smith from No 52 has got to go in for a hip replacement. Im sure iv'e been waiting longer than her. Her usband used to work at Hull Kingston General. He's dead now is'nt e ? But anyway,im sure that tart across the road is after my lad. Well i tell you now she can go **** someone else's boy ! And il tell you what else....
No it wasn't. It was Lionel Messi who fancies a change as he is bored winning all the time @ Barcelona.
There's a transfer special that Kisser Mag have brought out which is a good read, although it doesn't really tell you anything new
Since Hammill is now looking unlikely I wouldn't mind us having a look at Myachi but I can't see use signing a central midfielder
what bugs me about this lack of transfer activity from city is the Allams said on several occasions that they'd be "millions" to be spent in this window... now we all know we need a keeper & a striker... so why arnt we spending any money ? having mannone & carson on loan temporarily solves the keeper situation... but we really need someone to get us goals to keep us in the top 6. King isnt the answer either as i think he'll be used as a winger. there's plenty of striker's out there at other clubs who are better than what we currently have.. start placing bids ffs!
Do we really need anything else? Hammill is the only link that had any real credibility. Looking at our squad though now I don't think we're lacking depth, far from it. I'm praying King has confidence and can score goals but if he can we're sorted. We pretty much have 2 good players for every position. Mannone (Carson) (Basso) etc Rosenior (East)---Chester---Hobbs (Cooper)---Dawson (Dudgeon) McKenna (Cairney)---Evans (Olifinjana) Mclean (Garcia)--- Koren (Brady) ---Stewart (King) Fryatt (Simpson) Then there's all the fringe players: Harper, Emerton, Devitt, Atkinson, Cullen, Kilbane etc. So I think our main problem is if people stay fit who do you leave out of the squad all together? With at least 19/20 good Championship players in our squad. If you'd offered me this transfer window at the end of December to finish like this I'd have taken it. Mannone back and a new pacey winger/striker in and most importantly, kept hold of Chester, Koren, Stewart etc. Unless we lose one of them (highly unlikely) I think we're fine.
Think at the Reading game if Fryatt hasn't shown anything in the first hour we'll have King on as the lone striker.
Just because Barmby has the money available to spend doesn't mean he will, he's repeatedly said he'll only spend big when the right player is available. Right now clearly, he doesn't think that player is available. He's obviously happy with the squad. If Nick's happy, I am too.
There's still just under 2 weeks to go, we can still do business between now and the end of the window. We could do with a couple of new additions (permanent striker, maybe a winger) but there's no point buying for the sake of it if there's nothing out there or teams are qouting stupid prices. There may well be something been sorted that's been kept well under wraps.
Top priority at the moment is a defender, we could have done with one for numbers even before McShane went out. With good squad depth you can take out any two (or more) players and not have a concern about the side we put out. So... ...with Rosenior and Hobbs out of that team you've got a back four of East, Chester, Cooper, Dawson, with Dudgeon on the bench. I wouldn't be happy playing the inexperianced East as part of a back four where Chester was the biggest player. From a tactical point of view, as an opposing manager I'm playing the two strikers who are best in the air, and telling my left winger and left full back to get at East and whip some crosses in, because we've got no way of countering it.
All the top managers I have heard, all say that January is not a good time to buy, as you either pay over inflated prices, or get players who are unwanted by their clubs. I therefore think NB is doing the right thing, they say an offer is on the table for one player, which we believe is Hammill, but if they don't get him at the price he is worth, the so be it. Close season will be the time to buy.
I agree in terms of Rosenior, think we'd struggle without him and at Burnley that showed. East looks a good player though and you're unlikely to get a quality player who wants to be second choice right-back. Personally, I would've liked to see Evans play there instead of McShane at Burnley as McShane was very poor. But if either Hobbs or Chester got injured I think Cooper is definitely good enough. Looks a quality player and Barmby obviously has faith in him. I'm 99% sure we won't bring a defender in so let's just hope Rosenior stays fit!
