ALEX'S move to QPR has been put on hold due to the Brazilian defender's wage demands.

Rangers have agreed a fee with Chelsea for the centre-back, who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

New boss Mark Hughes revealed the club held positive talks with the defender on Monday, and was hopeful of completing a move for the 29-year-old.

However, the Chronicle understands Alex's £60k-a-week wages are the stumbling block in the deal, and there are doubts whether the transfer will be wrapped up in time for Saturday's relegation six-pointer with Wigan at Loftus Road.

if it is true why yesterday were they agreeing personal terms, surely he would had to agree personal terms to go for a medical if not no point in medical i think if the medical thing is true then it just the club agreeing a fee and its THURSDAY tomorrow big day for announcement.

Just hope MH has other irons in the fire. To be optimistic, the same happened with Cahill to Chelsea. A Mexican stand off until the player's greedy agent sees sense...

Alex's greedy agent is also mark hughes agent. Surely that has to be in our favour?

That must be a conflict of interest unless Hughes is excluded completely from the negotiations

i don't think it is wages if i remember rightly the clubs haven't agreed a fee thats probably all we are waiting for and QPR and they don't want to pay more than they think he is worth.

Hope its sorted tomorrow. We really need Alex for the Wigan match. In recent years all the transfers that we are in have really takin lots of time. Its not wonder when you think about the money which is involved in these transfers and contracts. Sometimes its about money and sometimes the length of the contract or any other details. Im certain we will hear great news tomorrow.
