    Capello watching Swansea duo

Swansea duo Scott Sinclair and Leon Britton are reportedly close to earning England call-ups after impressing coach Fabio Capello.

Sinclair and Britton have played key roles in helping the Swans move up to the heady heights of tenth place in their first season in the Premier League, and Capello was at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday to see them help Swansea beat Arsenal 3-2.

Speculation in midweek suggests that the pair have been told that they are close to a national call-up and could even gatecrash England's squad for Euro 2012 this summer if they continue to impress.

A source close to Capello told the Daily Star: "Fabio was impressed with Sinclair and Britton, but they still need to improve if they want to be considered for the European Championships. I don't think it is in his mind to pick them for the Holland friendly next month, but he will keep a close eye on them.

"But at the moment no uncapped player stands out. Fabio was keen to see how Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain progressed at Arsenal, but he has played so few games this season, although he did come on at Swansea.

"But there is still time for something to happen."

No mention of Dyer anywhere. Surprising. I would have put him before Sinclair.

    Shock about Birtton.
He deserves it if he does get it!

yes agree that dyer i thought would be in contention, i think britton and danny are capable of giving the current england players a fight for their place but im not sure about sinclair yet as he has been blowing hot and cold all season. if he can keep playing like he has in the last two games then he will get his chance....

Britton and Dyer would have been my choice, but I'm not the England manager, anyway I was thinking the other day, if Capello wants to test his side against Swansea (Wales v England, sort of thing) I'd put money on Swansea winning!............... <cheers>

I too am shocked that Dyer hasn't got a mention. Then again Scott might not be in contention because of his wing ability....we all know what England are like when it comes to major competitions and penalties!!!

Quick question Dai. The other day, I mentioned the fact we didn't need another striker, but you insisted DG wasn't good enough at this level, and that was why BR was looking at Maynard and other options.

Now, in the quote above, you have clearly said DG will give the England regulars a fight for their place.

Not picking, but I just want you to clarify which it is,

Is Graham good enough for the Swans, or Not?

As I am clearly confused by your recent comments.

i wish the poms would get rid all their olds and bolds and get more youngsters in, as with most would have said Dyer. is Caulker an under 21 international and if not how would he rate?

    Jackash: <applause>

One minute this player is not good enough for Premiership football, the next he's "capable of giving the current england players a fight for their place". <laugh>. Whilst we all support everyone's right to hold dodgy views, however hypocritical, top marks for raising the point.

Musty - may be wrong but I believe Caulker and Sinclair are both capped under 21s. Caulker has a lot to learn judging by the goals on Saturday but will get there. <ok>

I'm surprised at Dyer too. MOM on Saturday but no mention of him. Curious.

Personally, I wouldn't blame Caulker for Arsenal's first goal. Van Persie managed to squeeze the ball through a gap that barely seemed to exist, and van Persie cleverly didn't hit it the first time when everyone thought he would pull the trigger.

I can see the argument, aswan. I think Caulker was happy to keep that angle narrowing. He was as gobsmacked as the rest of us when it went in. Lesson? You cant give world class players any sniff. Definitely culpable on the second though. Ash stepped up and Caulker just wasn't switched on.

That said, he's a real talent, is only 19 and will get better and better. I only hope that Situ is half as good.

Caulker will be a future England international in years to come IMO. Great in the air, composed on the ball - lets hope that after a year down here he gets to like the place enough to stay.

jack ash england play a system that would suit danny down to the ground we dont, his last two goals he has scored from a midfield position and its obvious that brendan has told the player to play more deep and so far its worked, try to get it out of your head that i think danny is rubbish as i have given him more praise than most on here, i dont like him playing on his own up front is what i said as he wastes to many chances and that has been noted by many...

kangaroo you obviously dont understand football as much as me where i can pick out small details on things like lone strikers..get a life instead of having a dig at every opportunity as you make yourself look a right idiot...you have been told this many times by other fellow jacks, we all have our views that you should either agree or not agree just like everyone else on here ,,,,,,just make your own points if you have one and stop rubbishing mine as they are valid just like everyone else's....<ok>

I'm never sure if you are actually serious with your posts Dai...? If so, the hypocrisy you display is stunning :)

Frequent comments such as this "you obviously dont understand football as much as me" are bound to get a reaction and rightly so. When people disagree with you you call them an idiot and say you know more about football than them, and now in the same sentence you are saying everyone has the right to their views without being rubbished, yet this is the very attitude you display on a daily basis.

I'm probably completely missing the joke and you're actually trolling, in which case, you're very successful at it.

I agree with you about people being able to have different views and should be able to share them and disagree with each other without it spiralling into petty oneupmanship, but you're as (if not more so) guilty as everyone else.

    Anyhoooo......

    Back on topic....

Can't really understand why Sinclair is mentioned above Dyer in this article, but whatever happens, it's just nice that members of the team are being linked with stories like this (made up by the press or not)! :)

I heard the other day that Britton has the best pass completion rate in the top 5 leagues in Europe (Premiership, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) is this correct? If so that is very impressive!

I disagree that Graham's last 2 goals were scored from midfield positions. His goal against Arsenal was a sublime centre forward run in behind the centre back, showing good pace to get there first. His second goals against Barnsley was a classic centre forward back post tap in. Yes, he scored a screamer from the midfield in the same game, but lone strikers (especially ones with attacking, pacy wingers) are actually allowed to drop deeper. Brendan has not really told him to drop deeper, but actually just told him to work his socks off. As a result, Danny does pop up in some unlikely positions, but that only aids us to outnumber the opposition and regain the ball quicker. He's probably one of the best lone strikers in the league at the moment because he doesn't stand on his heels and wait for ball. He's always moving, dragging defenders around, making defenders think, dropping deep, playing off the last man, swapping with the wingers etc. Quality player.

Onto the OP - I'd be shocked if Dyer wasn't close to call up. I can't see Britton being involved, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. Sinclair needs to start contributing a tad more in matches (he's been better as of late), and then his penalty ratio will see him at least make the squad. Would be great to have some more international players in our squad!
