After the dismal affair that took place at the Reebok yesterday we find ourselves defending a 1-0 lead at Anfield in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup on Wednesday. Every week, we all have a go at picking who we think will play, but I honestly believe this is the hardest game of the season to predict the starting lineup because of what has been happenning this weekend. One thing is for sure. Kenny will not risk a Wembley appearance on a knee Jerk reaction. He will pick a team to get a result, but there will for sure be changes. And I expect to see a good compliment of scousers on the pitch come kick off. Reina will start for sure. Nailed on of course. I can see Carragher coming in not because he is better than Agger or Skrtel, but he will demonstrate to the whole team what is required when wearing a Liverpool shirt. I bet he was tamping even more than Kenny was Yesterday. Gerrard is a must of course, and hopefully Spearing will be fit enough to come in for Adam. Bellamy is a must and I also think Kuyt a must in a two man front line. I like Johnson, but feel we could do with Kelly for this game as his defence is usually exemplory for me it should be as follows: 442 GK: Reina RB: Kelly LB: Enrique CB: Carragher CB: Agger CDM: Spearing CM: Gerrard RM: Johnson LM: Aurelio CF: Bellamy CF: Kuyt Subs: Doni, Shelvey, Skrtel, Henderson, Sterling, + whoever Some may say my starting lineup is quite defensive, but it is mad of players with their heart on their sleaves and gives us a few options on the bench for impact if necessary. Thoughts?
I'd play the same team as Bolton. Leaving players out would not be good for team morale. That was a strong team we played against Bolton. It's a pitty too many had cigars in their mouths. Gerrard was not even mentioned on MOTD highlights.
Its vital we dont let City take any away goal advantages. reina kelly carragher agger johnson henderson spearing adam downing gerrard carroll Is my guess.
