There are 3 lads that sit behind me every week (and, they are the reason I am moving seats next season) Saturdays game,Connor Wickham had been on the field about 15 minutes and all I heard from them was how ****e he is. How he is not a good player and he shouldn't be wearing a Sunderland shirt. Wickham may not have had the best game ever but I thought he worked hard and did what he had to do. What I can't understand at all is the way clowns like these go on and on. There appear to be a pocket of fans (of which these lads are a part, that get a buzz from slagging the team off even when things are going well. They only seem to enjoy it when things are going badly and we fight relegation so they have someone to slag off - personally I can't stand it (and have got into a number of arguments about this). Now everyone is entitled to their opinion but to shove it down peoples throats constantly and just slag the team (even at 2-0) for the sake of it, to me, is crazy. Rant over - back to calmness!!!
Sadly marcus its part of going to football, I'm all in favour of everyone having an opinion, honest I am, but some seem to only have one opinion,he is crap. All that changes is their target. BTW, the seat next to me is free if anyone wishes to have an excellent neighbour, tight squeeze mind.
I need 2 seats mate - and not cos I'm fat!! just cos I sit with my Dad at the match. It;'d be nice to sit around people who are like minded and want the best for the club and are happy when things go right - the worst thing about Saturday was that they targeted an 18 year old who has hardly played any football over the last month and hed to play 80 minutes - he looked knackered at the end of the second half but they were constantly on his back!!
Can we suggest that we have a tossers section so they can all sit together and the rest of us can get on with supporting the team.
No that would not be fair on the away fans! But I would agreed that we put them at the upper North Stand and have a saftey zone to protect the real fans from their abuse. LOL
Full agreement from me on this article! There's some right knackers sit around my seat in the North, I just don't get it. I'm one of these sad acts that believes if we're 3 down with 8 minutes left, we can still nick summat. Probably makes me worse than them like.
I wasn't too impressed by Whickham's performance on the ball, first touch was poor but I thought he ran his socks off putting the Swansea defence under pressure and put in a really good shift, it was real team players performance from him. Got to say from the SWC corner I thought his shot in the 2nd half went a mile wide as it ended up hitting the ad boards near the corner flag but it looked inches wide on the tele. Agreed on the annoying people who prefer us struggling, old bloke next to me gets told to shut it by his son every game ha ha.
I never gave it up mate, and I never will. I have only used it twice this season, sadly (Mags & Everton), but my uncle uses it every game I don't attend. I'm hoping to get back a lot more for the remainder of the season, now that all is settled here. It's £500 at the end of the day marra, and that is my contribution to the club, I wouldn't begrudge it if I missed every game!
On Wickham, the lad was clearly lacking match fitness and a run to get his game going. He was brought on as our only option and he did his best despite being rusty and not one hundred percent. However you can see that when the lad is fully fit and flying he is going to be a fantastic buy! I thought the whole atmosphere was strange on Saturday. I remember the atmosphere under Ried when we would sing all game long and this still wasn't close to roker park! Yet now the vast majority sit in silence or in judgement. Maybe we havn't got all the negativity of Bruce out of our systems? Maybe we are just not good at supporting a team that is expected to win? Look at the atmosphere against City when we were underdogs brilliant.....
I sit in the East Stand with a great bunch os fanatical season ticket holders not far from Syd and we too have 3 or 4 moaners behind us. It got so bad during the Man City game that 3 of us turned and told them to stop the moaning and support the team. To our amazement they did.
I can never understand this kind of supporter. I am very opinionated on this site and outside the ground and will offer very harsh criticism but at the match I offer every support possible. Going there to slaughter the lads seems counter productive to me. Maybe you should 'have a quiet word' Billy style and clear the air. Lol
Very good line that mate. It does seem that when we get a 'siege mentality' going, we back the team. Under Reid, well frankly we'd been **** and mainly outside the top level for many years, so it was exciting and new (and to be fair, that was a ****ing entertaining side!). We have cracking support, even if you look at 36,000 on Sat, it's low, but it's only low cos it's us. 6 teams in the country could call on that amount as a minimum, and 4 of those will have been Champions League regulars. That's what seperates us and the Toon from the also rans, and makes us think we're special. We do need to try and pull together at the games and shout the team on though, there's a real lack of chants, and songs for the lads as well. Under Reid, even under McCarthy, nearly everyone had a song!
Was in the North Stand Saturday and could hear some moaning everytime we misplaced a pass, fine if we were 3 down and been crap all season. This was when we were admittedly under the cosh a bit in the second half but, instead of shouting a bit of encouragement to the lads they just slagged every player off, suppose we've got to be thankful for small mercies that they didn't pick on one player. Not sure why these tools go to the match if I'm honest just to slag their own team off.
I missed the City game as I had an afternoon gig in Great Lumley!! wished I had gone and told them I'd start late now!!! These arsehole behind me don't really take any of the comments on here into account (the lack of match fitness etc.) - just a bunch of absolute arseholes.. My Dad made a comment to one of them and nearly ended up fighting with them!!! We're defintely moving next season - ptrobably nearer to my dad's mate further along the north stand to be fair but I can't put up with them
I honestly believe that the 'scapegoat' culture breeds from the North, just behind me. The only reason I haven't moved is because I like the fact that my seat has been mine from day 1, but i'm very tempted to go South next season
