If Sharp is available for the reported 1.8 million or whatever it is, and we can persuade him to come down here, then I would much rather go for him than spending about 8-9 million on an overpriced player.
If we go up Lambert will carry on shining his assets are his sheer strength and his astute footballing awareness and thats without the goals he is the main man and its most important that we do indeed add another striker that he complements Ricky that said i think if the Sharp rumour is true i think he is worth a punt given the fee. We also need to consider the fact that Tadanari Lee could prove to be a fine addition given he is a full international all be it with Japan it should also be considered tha t Norwich Citys Morrison and Holt and Graham at Swansea have adjusted well to the prem so why not Sharp
I'm just concerned about Sharp's all-round game. We all know he can score goals but what else does he offer? This is exactly the reason I'm not concerned about Lambert, I'm certain he'd be a success in the PL because his all-round game is so good. Still, probably worth a punt for £1.8m or whatever it is.
I don't really think it is fair for us to comment on a player we do not see regularly. Lambert was seen as a goal getter when he signed for us, nothing more. Sharp has a good work rate from what I've read on their forums.
Can we though? Are we living in a dream world? Who do you suggest we try and sign that isn't going to cost us stupid money like 8 million.
Yeah I don't know what else he offers, that's why I'm asking. It might be nothing, it might be that he's all over the pitch carrying the team, I don't know.
Quite right, and they haven't yet decided to bid for him, so perhaps we can infer from that they don't really rate him.
According to the reliable footballrumours.com Matt Phillips deal has been agreed. Clear the air talks with Puncheon involve him going the other way in the deal... All Rubbish!!
Life isn't that complicated. Why go through all that palaver? They would just have announced that Puncheon had apologized. He came out and spoke positively about hoping to restart his Saints career.
If I had the choice of Hooper or Rhodes for £6/8 million or Sharp for £1.85 million, I would pick Sharp every time. I think he has proved himself to be just as good a goalscorer as the other two and would be a bargain. For people saying they are not sure that he would make it in the Premiership, there is nothing to say that Hooper or Rhodes would be a success there either. If he fires us to the riches of the Premiership for £1.85 million it wont matter.
You could say the same about Rooney I think his all round game would fit perfectly with Lambert. He is the fox in the box we have been looking for and is also very good at holding the ball up. Hooper would need to adjust his game slightly because he likes to use the left channel for diagonal balls which is Rickie prefered side.
I think Tadanari Lee is the fox in the box, as well as being a shoot on sight from 20 yards player. He ticks several boxes and I won't be too upset if we don't sign any more strikers. What we do need, however, is another CB.
Sharp is a v. good striker. And at around £2m would be good business. Of the strikers we've been linked with - Sharp would be my preference
If anyone is available for the right price and Adkins thinks he will improve the squad then go for it imo. We're 2nd in the league with a good shot at going up, there will be players who would probably be willing to join us now who might not be so keen in the summer if we fail to gain promotion. Now is the time to get in a couple of real quality players (if they are available), and hope they can push us over the line, and if they don't then we will have them next year to try again.
More details on Lee's transfer - seems his contract may not have expired, but he had a clause which allowed him to move to Europe for free. Quite common for a lot of players over there apparently.
Great deal for the club. Any outlay will be more than recouped by the interest in the club out east, potential shirt sales etc.
