It would be human nature to rant and rave after a game like Wimbledon and then come to your senses a few days later. That defence has perfectly capable players who had conceded just 7 goals in 8 games up to Saturday and it was in total control for an hour. We then saw a collective mental breakdown which some people place 100% on the back four but could easily be attributed to most of the 11 who ended the game if not all of them. With some prospect of promotion it is not a time to bring in the kids, that can happen when Promotion is certain or more likely lost. The best bet for Saturday is to pick the same team who will almost certainly be itching to make amends. Before the end of the season it may be worth identifying some younger blood to succeed Frampton and Lawrence on grounds of age but loanees do not make any sense.
They may well up their game if picked, but for how long? Sooner rather than later,(and probably as soon as the transfer window closes),it will be back to how they were last week. Hess surely cannot wait after next week or it will only be loans he can sign, and if thats the case,he will be better off signing loans now,.
Well I'm glad you got that off your chest Oxon I got a good idea why don't Hess swap Richards and Lawrence round .. Radical eh ??
Danny Spiller just tweeted he is at the specialists, hoping to get the all clear so he commence full training next week.
It looks like Hess is going to go with the same as before and not change the defence. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~2589462,00.html
born again gill, it's sad but true. it's bad the fact we have lost ground, but to then lose so poorly and hess to state all aspects will now change, and to then bottle it...show's we are in for dropping a few more points this season and very possibly at a cost...thats why it's so frustrating, when you can't do a thing about it, when it's there for all to see...well most anyway! rant over for now!
dartford fc have confirmed O/S that gillingham will not be recalling connor essam from his loan spell. give yourself a pat on the back hess
Yes he did the right thing there and wisely went and watched him before making a rash decision which might otherwise not have been good for club or player.
oh right bristol407, did hess not also do that with matt fry and say he wouldn't be taking it any further...it does make you wonder if he has a clue regards the defence, i mean where is the evidence for this?! be it young and inexperienced, does that mean connor essam & callum davies are any less than our old pro's...especially at a time like this...no! everyone knows the fans have no confidence in the defence and changes need to happen...don't mean swap one or two round either!
don't give it either...the manager see's these train everyday, so he should know, because he watchs our so called experienced batch as well and look how they've performed last and this season. who have we actually changed...frampton and fish...what quality...just goes to show!
I think it was better to keep Essam out on loan so he gets a bit more time in the first team, but not to sign Fry or Brown is totally and utterly stupid.,
thing is hess maybe gave um that so called kick up the backsides, to which they perform for the one off game again to possibly get 3pts, then when the transfer window closes....hay presto...poor performance + zilch pts!!!
lets be honest we defend horribly against wombles for 15-20mins at their place so its only right we gave them the same treatment at ours otherwise it just wouldnt be fair its the wombles not our defence that causes the problems
