Del sounds very cautious and saying the right thing but, reading between the lines, he is not impressed by the situation. Nicky is losing friends rapidly and I wish he would leave in the same way. Nuff said.

I just wish all this nonsense would go away - it's a bloody circus that the team, club and fans could do without. I could do without it......

I will only believe it once i see it on our website that he has officially signed.

Until then he is still a Bristol City player and one of the most dangerous strikers in the league on his day.

McInnes has handled this superbly. Given how Millen and everyone else handled the Maynard situation, I'm actually shocked to see McInnes take to the situation so well, and most importantly make the topic entirely about football.

Maynard is still a part of this team, and if he trains well and is willing to put the effort in he should play because he's a proven goalscorer that could get us points.

Frankly, I couldn't care about pride or commitment. An in-form Maynard playing under McInnes could keep us in the Championship, and that's all I care about at this moment.

I do think Scottish managers have a bigger emphasis of creating the best team and not putting all ur eggs in one basket with just 1 star player which is why in recent years the Scottish national team don't have any big players but because of great team work have come away with results again footballs elite teams. I think Del has also done this at his last club and hopefully he will do it at ours by getting the best out of our players and getting rid of the players who either think they're too good or don't want to try

I understand the Wigan comment now about we didn't try to sign Maynard, they spoke to him and he turned them down so they didn't make a bid...

So City saying they allowed him to talk and the Wigan denial of an offer are both correct, honour maintained on all sides.

So why did Colin Sexstone say that 'transfer discussions were at an advanced stage' a day or so ago ?

If he really did say that, then he's a bigger twat than I thought he was and my opinion of him wasn't high to start with.

Well the club allowed Wigan to talk to Maynard, basically saying you can have him. I guess they weren't expecting Maynard to say no...

Also why would that make him a twat? He would have been trying to get some other clubs interested so the club could get more money potentially.

Maybe he is also trying to put presure on Maynard.
Once it is out that a PL club wanted him (which is what he has said all along was the aim for him)
NM must know that the supporters will give him a hard time if he says no and sits out his contract.

Also, it may smoke out a bid from another club if they think Wigan are about to snap him up.

So I can see why the Board might put out this message for their own purposes if they suspected
NM was going to turn Wigan down.

Of course that may be a bit too cunning for them and maybe as you say Sexy is just a twat!!!

'Our Board have played this badly all along and if anyone can take any blame here it is them'

    Spot on - bloody amateurs.

When the 'window' opened I posted on 3/1/12.
'Think Maynard will keep all options open.
a/ Why risk signing for a club Wolves/Wigan/QPR etc as they may be playing Championship next season.
b/ Go on a free in the summer and accept a massive signing on fee.
Logical to expect him to wait till the summer.
ps. Listening yesterday to Sky pundits talking about the transfer window - They were saying any club shouldn't let their 'star' player get within 2 years of a contract end. Our Board have left it until the last few months. Shambolic.
And that's not hindsight it's poor management'.

    Bloody Amateurs.

The board was probably right that us and wigan were at advanced stages over a fee but doesn't mean the player was.

U also have to wonder did wigan want it known publicly that they had made a bid as that then alerts their rivals

Because he appears to be a bungling, clueless, ill informed and crap excuse for a chairman. You only have to look at some of the **** he spouted when they finally had the bollocks to get rid of Millen to gauge what level of incompetence he aspires to.

Sexstone out! Some (most) of what he says or does make us look ridiculous in the public eye. We need someone who has a lot more to offer than him.

I agree that Sexstone is a limp puppet and certainly does nothing for our public image. However I think some are being a bit unfair regarding "leaving it to the last minute". A new contract was tabled for GreedyGuts at the beginning of the season and so in fairness the board, he still had a year (season) to run under the current one. It's not like they forgot about it. I think the problem was that once tabled and rejected (or not accepted), that was the time to transfer list him.

From what we read, the contract was the most lucrative in the club's history and if it did not meet Greedy's expectaions, then why wait and think he would have a change of heart?

I'm pretty much resigned to him staying now until the summer. The least he can do is to show up and score some bloody goals to keep us up. If he coasts for a few months that would be beyond an insult and maybe a few reserve games against reckless defenders with a chip on their shoulder for prima donnas might do him some good....

A major contibutory factor in him refusing to signi n the early part of the season had to be Millen, there was never going to be a future under his leadership, anybody with any sanity would have wanted to get out with that guy in command..
