QPR have reportedly made an offer for £4m-rated former Liverpool striker Djibril Cissé.

The striker has struggled to settle at Lazio and is said to be keen on a return to the Barclays Premier League.

Cissé had an injury-plagued time at Anfield and left for Marseille in 2006.

He also spent a short loan spell at Sunderland before joining Panathinaikos and then Lazio.

QPR transfers advisor, Gianni Di Marzio, said: "Cisse is a good player, maybe he hasn't settled in Rome because they have Klose [playing in the same position].

"He hasn't done very well in Rome but he has proved to be a top goal scorer in the past.

"If he comes to QPR, we will welcome him with open arms."

Meanwhile Mark Hughes wants to continue his QPR revolution by landing Nancy midfielder Samba Diakite on loan.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who is on African Nations Cup duty with Mali, is set to snub French giants Lyon in favour of a loan move to Loftus Road.

Hughes bolstered his defence again when he snapped up Nedum Onuoha from Manchester City yesterday.

Onuoha, 25, had made just one appearance as a sub in the Premier League this season. Hughes got his man for £2.75m on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Onuoha, who worked with Hughes when he was City boss, said: “This was the time for me to join.

“The manager obviously played a massive factor in my decision to come here. I’ll give everything to help us succeed.”

Hughes has also signed left-back Taye Taiwo, 26, on loan from AC Milan.

The pair could make their *debuts in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie with Chelsea.

He's 30, thought he was much older. When on form he's excellent. Unfortunately that's not very often.

Had to phone up my Liverpool pal as my first thought was negative. But after hearing what he had to say I've changed, it might not be as bad as first feared.
He's held in high regard among the liverpudlians. 49 games (incl sub app) and 13 goals in his two seasons at Anfield might not sound to impressive. But if you look behind those numbers it's actually quite good. He endured a bad leg break in his first season. Benitez almost never used him in his prefered position (CF) and utilised him mostly as a right midfielder/winger. Never any trouble with him and just a lovely lad is what I'm hearing. Only 30 remember, and a good 2-3 seasons in him still.

Spent the 2008-2009 season on loan at Sunderland scoring 10 goals in 35 games, good return imo and no more than we can expect to attract.

47 goals in 61 games in his last two seasons in Greece is very respectable. Even though the league isn't the best they still produce two or three teams in the Champions League every year.

I would be happy if this comes to fruition. He has something to prove in the Prem and he has real pace and a physical presence about him.

Not convinced either myself, but I am concerned that our strikers are scoring so few goals. We desperately need a new forward. Not saying Cissé is the answer but we need someone ...

Just another Bothroyd/Hulse IMO. Plays for Lazio now and has scored 5 all season.

Mark Hughes has indicated that he is unlikely to sign former Liverpool striker Djibril Cissé.

The QPR manager confirmed the club have expressed an interest in buying the 30-year-old France international from Italian side Lazio.

Cissé, who left Liverpool in 2006 and spent the 2008-09 season on loan at Sunderland, is believed to be keen to return to the Premier League.

But Hughes said: “It’s one of those where if it comes through you’re delighted, but that one’s not one I would hang my hat on.”

Cissé is one of a host of strikers Rangers have enquired about as they look to sign a forward ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Another is Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

Rangers are considering making a bid for the Colombian as well as another for Chris Samba – despite having two previous offers for the defender rejected by Blackburn.

“We’re looking at players all over the world to see if we can bring quality in. We’d certainly like to get another striker,” Hughes confirmed.

You right on both , but if we can get him for a bit less and he scores a few he'd be worth it.

Could possibly be an issue with our Muslim players if they are religious. Cisse converted away from Islam which is a major no-no.

EXCLUSIVE: QPR line up Djibril Cisse

QPR boss Mark Hughes has targeted Lazio's former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse for a shock return to the Premier League.

Hughes is a long-term admirer of Cisse's, and tried to sign him while in charge at Manchester City.

Rangers are desperate to strengthen their strike force as they battle to avoid an instant return to the Championship.

Interestingly, the Italians have made enquiries about QPR forward Adel Taarabt and it is believed Hughes may be ready to cash in on the Moroccan to create funds for new signings.

Cisse, now 30, became one of the biggest names in the Premier League during his Liverpool days and enjoyed a prolific spell at Greek side Panathinaikos after leaving Anfield.

The France international joined Lazio last summer but has largely played wide even though he still sees himself as a goal-scoring centre-forward.
