I have two 'girly' girls that sit behind me and just spend the whole game talking about hair, nails and shopping (and how fit Spiderman is. Seriously?? He's French!!) Grrrrrrr It's girls like that who give the rest of us a bad name, ha ha!! Boyf isn't into football as much as I am although he follows Reading. When we both had season tickets a few years ago, he'd be off to Reading, I'd be heading to SMS and we hardly used to see each other at weekends, which was a pain sometimes. But he has his hobbies, I have mine. We don't live in each other's pockets but I think we have the balance just right. One of the guys I sit with told me someone on his wife's side of the family has organised a wedding for the same day as the Pompey home game which is causing an issue. That's when you might be accused of choosing football over women!!!
good question -with the west ham game coming up on valentines day what do you do? The last time this problem came up i said to my wife i would like to go to the game and then i would take her to somewhere she has never been before. She excitedly agreed. When i got home i took her into the kitchen.
Funny as! This West Ham away game will be a issue I can see that! Also Kate those girls sound alright I might have to get tickets next to you if their regulars?
We are actually staying in Canterbury for a couple of days for valentines (I've never been there) and we are coming back so I can 'listen' to the West Ham game!
My ex always moaned/took the piss when I went on a rant about the saints. Needless to say this is probably one of the reasons why she's my ex!
Ah mate - what are you being punished for? - no, its not a bad place - a good selection of restaurants and bars/history etc. hope you enjoy your stay and the result.
Well I am in the dog house with Mrs Q now and I have no idea why. Was out at football all day yesterday and when I got back she wasn't happy. Oh well just have to ride it out. I took her to the Leicester game where she declared Jack Cork to be her favourite player (can't think why) and wondered what Kasper Schmeichel used to make his hair so shiny.
Exactly the reaction I get when I have been to football. Thankfully I don't live with her and when I come home from the game the evening is still mine to do as I please but the next day when I do see her its a frosty reception and I then have to either A) Take her out and spend money or B) get dragged over to her parents house to take part in their "Family Roast". If I don't there is not a chance in hell in any bedtime fumbles!
I go to football as and when I want to, because my wife knows that the alternative is to have me kicking things around the place and moaning that I should be at football, not wherever it is she thinks I should be. Shopping is her hobby and I don't try and stop her doing that, so I think it's a fair arrangement. When the fixture list comes out, I mark the dates up on the calender and she then refers to it before making any arrangements that might involve me (When the fixture list changes due to replays, cancellations etc, I put the new dates on the calender and it is her responsiblity to check regularly for changes and adjust her plans accordingly) - she makes the odd mistake, but has learned that it is better to change her plans than to try and change mine because of my world class sulking ability.
Always better to not live in each others pockets, but have to admit that's a lesson you learn with age. Can remember being more difficult when younger.
My inlaws are in South Africa so its actually quite nice. We dont go every sunday though. i dont get the football rivalry thing with the father in law which is a shame as he doesnt follow english football - have to make do with cricket bashing but its not he same.
I am lucky because my girlfriend is willing to listen to the away matches with me on the radio and allow me to go to the home games. As a thank you what did i do? Bought her a ticket to the Cardiff game to show her why i am so passionate about Saints. I am sure her standing in the Kingsland North with all the singing will convert her into a proper Saints fan. Who knows maybe she will come to more games with me next season... she will be paying tho!
Fran has a point I think if I ever talked my Mrs into going to a game and we lost it would just further more put her off and question whats the big deal about it!.
my GF is not happy because I have decided that I am going to the west ham game on the 14th of feb, cant think why....................
My wife loves our club as do the three kids. Costs a bloody fortune when we go but we do usually all go together.
