I dont hate the thought of us getting Davies short term but theres younger better forwards going for half there actual value due to contracts. Almeida, rodallega, even Andy Johnson

We need a big man but who is not one paced.

MoN likes to play a counter attacking game and the best I can think of who play that way is Spurs, they have Adebayor, Defoe and the Pav and all three are not one paced.

We need someone who as well as holding the ball up can actually cause problems running with the ball

    Pavyluchenko anyone?

    Doyle would be perfect IMO

Doyle, Frazier, Ji, Wickham,Sess would do us till the summer.

We need to bring in a defender i think we are really thin at the back now. Collins from villa or a cheeky bid for Samba would go down well.

I got a txt from a mate of mine this morning saying Gardner was going to AV for 5m plus Heskey (my reply was god i ****ing hope not) Not sure where he got this from or if there is any truth in it at all

    Personally wouldn't want Doyle

Need someone with an eye for a goal unless like Davies its just a stop gap

In the past we have had Gyan, Bent, Cisse, Jones all who were capable of getting 10goals a season and IMO I dont think Doyle would, is he anybetter than Bendtner? I don't think so and I dont think he is better than Campbell or Wickham either.

    Hopefully he signs for Everton

Wasnt Andy Carroll not for sale at any price last transfer window? No1 is 'not for sale' these days. Slaps of game playing trying to eek out every last penny to me.

I'd be happy to see Davies short term but is the wrong time to be negotiating to get somone as the prices get inflated as folks panic.

    That's good....better than Davies...

Prefer his team-mate Fletcher, but Doyle is ok.

I would rather Davis for 6 months rather than Doyle on a 4 year contract which is what would happen.

My big worry is if Davis does not come Heskey will be plan B.

To be quite honest I would be happy if we did not sign anyone looking at the above options. Bendtner and Wickham can do a job for now especially with Campbell coming back and Ji as decent back up. Save the money and spend it wisely in the summer.

I keep saying Pavlechenko would be great, and how about Clint dempsey (Fulham), bring Kenwyne back, Rodelago (Wigan)? Samba in defence. Frazier scored a good goal and hope he gets back to the way he used to play, but this hoofing the ball irritates me.

Pav or Fletcher would be perfect, IMO.

    Rodellega i'd be satisfied with.

Wouldn't mind Doyle or Pavlyuchenko like - be happy with either of them!!

Apparently Bolton have turned us down flat for Davies so no go there

FFS - total step backwards is Davies.

As for Doyle - totally overrated and Wolves would want a big fee.

Not sure who is out there, but feel either of these are a step backwards from the likes of Bent, Gyan and even KJ17 for that matter.

That's right, I'm not going anywhere this transfer window. Well, that's a lie... I'm on my way to KFC now, but don't tell the gaffer.

Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill has confirmed that the club have had a bid for Bolton striker Kevin Davies rejected.

The Black Cats, who had earlier made an enquiry about the 34-year-old, firmed up their interest this morning, but were met with a flat refusal.

O’Neill said: “We have made an offer to Bolton for him, and that has been rejected at the moment.

“We will see where we stand later on today.”
