Iain Dowie has given his verdict on the January transfer deadline day signings, and feels that with the acquisitation of Djibril Cisse from Lazio, and Bobby Zamora from neighbours Fulham, Queens Park Rangers will provide a much sterner test for opposition defences in the second half of the season.

"We all have a great deal of sympathy for Neil Warnock, but Mark Hughes has gone in and identified very good targets. Zamora and Nedum Onuoha have proven pace, power and know how to deal with the Premier League. Cisse adds that element of unpredictability, and he has also brought in Samba Diakhite and Taye Taiwo.

"Zamora is the stand-out signing. He took Fulham almost single-handedly to the Europa League final. He's 31, but he did not play a lot in the early part of his career and is reaping the benefits of that.

"Those signings will make QPR a real force in the second half of the season. Goals have been a problem for them this season, but Zamora, Cisse and Federico Macheda increase their options up front greatly. They are all different players, but all three have the pace and physicality that you need in the Premier League."

Interesting point about Zamora not playing a lot in the early part of his career and is now reaping the benefits of that.

That Ian Dowie said that gives me no confidence whatsoever!

Ian Dowie is an awful manager and he looks and sounds like a Downs child. However, he is an intelligent man.

I posted this on january 11th, early in the window and straight after Hughes tok charge. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/115429-Hughes-Hit-List?highlight=dowie

Dowie's spot on about everyone! If you include Bridge's transfer to S'land and the fact that we wouldn't have bought both AJ and Zamora.

According to never wrong (?) Wikipedia Zamora was playing for Bristol City in 1999. That made him 18 when he started. Not exactly a wet behind the ears schoolboy but he's been around long enough. Wasn't he joint top scorer with our Andy Thompson one season? I remember there being this supposed great rivalry between them both but when we played Brighton at W12 neither scored.
