with our dreadful performance against blackburn, i think we should go for this,
    Villa -
    krul
    Simpson Colo Willo Santon
    Obertan guthrie Perch Jonas
    Ba Cisse

and for spurs i would have Raylor in for Obertan, with ba dropping back.

Perch played much better in central midfield than Raylor at blackburn,

    Krul
    Simmo - Colo - Willo - Santon
Ben Arfa - Guthrie - Raylor - Jonas
    Ba
    Cissé

Would play that at first to see how it goes, would prefer Ben Arfa over Obertan at the minute as he has that killer pass for the front two that Obertan doesnt yet have the confidence to play, Raylor has more of a passing game about him than Perch and Perch is more of a DM in a 3 man midfield i think. Would sub Ben Arfa if he proves ineffective again for Obertan and Perch for Raylor if we are winning and Villa start to push on heavily just to add a bit more pace in midfield and more tackling.

Keep Ben Arfa on the wing but bring Obertan on as an impact sub again. His pace against a tired opposition really causes problems.

    I'd go:

    Krul
    Simpson Williamson Coloccini Santon
    Raylor Guthrie Perch Gutierrez
    Ba Cisse

With Raylor and Jonas playing more of a wingers role and Guthrie and Perch in the middle.

    or:

    Krul
    Raylor Williamson Coloccini Santon
    Perch Guthrie
    BenArfa Obertan Gutierrez
    Ba

With the Jonas, Ober and HBA interlinking and switching positions. With all three playing in an attacking mid role wih freedom. Perch and Guthrie would have a more disciplined role. Perhaps bring Cisse on at some point to see wht he can do.

I really like that line up but Coloccini and Williamson must be swapped round!

Just watched some of the highlights again from last night and we were truely awful. But one thing that struck me again is how well the defenders did. Some of the blocks and tackles were back to our level of commitment earlier in the season. Special mention to Simpson who once again stuck two fingers up at the idiots who doubt what he gives us with yet another goal line clearance. Him and Saylor have produced more in one season than I can remember in the last 10 years of watching us. Had another solid game and is having a cracking season. Krul was a bit weird on watching the highlights, he was great at times and then mental at others. Keepers eh.

I wouldn't put Perch in. I'd still go with Raylor. And because we're at home I'd go with Benni too.

    Krul,
    Simpson, Colo, Willo, Santon
    Benni, Raylor, Guthrie, Jonas
    Ba Cisse

Abeid, Obertan, Best, Ferguson, Gosling, Elliott, Perch

I can't see Pardew starting Cisse on Sunday. Agree that Ben Arfa should start RW, but he needs to improve after his last few performances. Obertan completely agree should be an impact sub atm. Warnock who will probably play LB for Villa, scored an awful own goal the other night, and had been dropped for a couple of games before that, so Benny should be told to go and terrorise him. Then later on when Warnock is emotionally and physically f****d, get Obertan to just run at him.

Centre mid is the worry at the moment. Stick Taylor in there again, he works hard enough, and gives us quality set pieces.

    Mixed_Formation

I think we should go 4-4-1-1

    ---------------Cisse------------
    ------------Ba------------------
    Jonas-Abeid-Guthrie-Obertan
    Santon--Colo--Willo--Simmo
    -------------Krul---------------

I'd quite happily play Haris Vuckic & Guthrie in centre. Benny can keep his position out wide, but ober to replace him in second half.

He scored a goal and did well in the short period he was on the pitch but that still doesn't merit a place in the starting XI yet.

Stick to Ben Arfa with Obertan sprinting past defences when they're starting to tire somewhere in the second half.

    Same back five as always

    Raylor - Perch - Guthrie - Jonas
    Best - Ba

I love Benny as much as the next man but he needs to learn to play for the team, he was far too selfish against Blackburn. Raylor is our best crosser so it makes sense to have him on the right.

Having Perch making tackles allows Guthrie to get forward and be creative.

Pardew won't chuck Cisse in just yet, my guess is he'll be on the bench and will replace Best on 70 minutes or so. Demba on the other hand he will have no problems with, and he plays well with Best (last Blackburn game anyone?) so that is my line-up <ok>

Only thing I'd say is Best went off injured last night, and by his reaction it looked pretty painful so he might be doubtful to play on Sunday.
