Bangura out for three months. M Wilson, McCourt, Loovens, Brozek and Juarez not included in the squad. Another cup tie against ICT. We can look forward to endless references from Ian Crocker about a certain cup game of 12 years ago. I'm sure it will prove to be a tough game.
I got offered tickets last night. No chance am I driving up to Inverness to sit freezing my balls off. I've never been to a decent Celtic/Caley game up there, ****ing awful place to watch football.
I said this morning that the next two games are possibly our hardest two games of the season (definitely the two hardest consecutive games). Away to Inverness in the cup is always hard and then we're off to that Gorgie midden. If, by Thursday, we're still in the cup and got a point at Swiney, I'll be well chuffed
Felt I've lived my life up in Inverness recently , last season with cup games , league games and games off , even stopped there on way to Ross county , still be there tomorrow but agree awful place for football , only good thing is how quick you get out the car park after game !!!
Some tricky ties coming up: Sat 4 Feb 2012 - Scottish Cup Inverness CT v Celtic 12:45 Wed 8 Feb 2012 - Scottish Premier League Hearts v Celtic 19:45 Sat 11 Feb 2012 Scottish Premier League Celtic v Inverness CT 15:00 Sun 19 Feb 2012 Scottish Premier League Sun 19 Feb 2012 - Scottish Premier League Hibernian v Celtic 15:00
Scottish Premier League Sun 19 Feb 2012 - Scottish Premier League Hibernian v Celtic 15:00 I wonder how the Honduran boy Claros will get on? I really hope he's a success just to rub the hun's noses in it
I read that he looks to be a really decent player. Excellent passer of the ball.... That would be nice.
bit gutted brozek isnt included , unless hes cup tied or ineligible some way? I think its the perfect intro into scottish football , a cold windy mid afternoon up in Inverness ....welcome to scottish football .....isnt it ****!!!
Caley is no place to star off a new bhoy. We need an experience team to go out on the pitch and boss the match from start to finish.
Spot on SH. I've been to most of the games we've played in Inverness and we generally struggle there. I remember a Scottish Cup game up there where we won it 2-1 with late goals. Pressley scored one of them.
I think its a perfect place to put him in.....i certainly wouldnt start with him but i think to give him a run out at that type of ground would bode well for his appreciation of scottish football and it would allow us to see if he can cut it or not. The game up there always seems to miss out the midfield ...its very much back to front with not alot of ball being played on the deck! strikers have to work and play hard to get any joy .....i think after seeing 30 mins of him against ICT i would know if hes going to be a fit for celtic or not.
Never understood why we toil up there , pitch is large( is it not the biggest in the league ) normally is in reasonable conditions . The wind whips in over the unprotected side where the tv cameras is my only reasonable explanation , or butcher knows how to spoil the game with his big six footer defenders and midfield , be honest Rangers always toil up there aswell. .Last two cup wins both 2-1 , Pressley scored in 88 mins then Miller !!! Scored in 93 mins
Aye in the league. He jumped into the crowd after a late goal to make it 1-0. I was at that one, another ****ey game at Inverness. That's why I can't be ****ed tomorrow. It'll probably be 5-0 now.
PAT FENLON has revealed how Rangers coaches urged him to snatch Jorge Claros from under their noses. The Hibs boss received a call to tip him off about the player's availability on his side's team bus travelling back from last Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Ibrox. And when he followed it up he admitted Gers advised him NOT to pass up the opportunity of signing him as they had just done. The 'Pitbull' spent ten days on trial with the Ibrox club this month in a bid to persuade Ally McCoist to hand him a contract. Although Gers were interested, the Honduran's club Montagua mockingly dismissed their cash offer for the midfielder as 'absurd'. And that opened the door for Hibs, who succeeded where Rangers failed by instead agreeing a 12-month loan deal for the tough-tackling 26-year-old international. For the moment Claros is overcoming the language barrier at East Mains with help from a Spanish-speaking kitchen porter! But in Hibs' situation, Fenlon admitted the chance to take him was simply too good to turn down. He said: "To be honest I didn't know too much about Jorge until I got a call on the bus on the way back from Ibrox and we followed it up from there. "I spoke to a few people at Rangers and they thought he was very, very decent. "Whatever happened there I don't know, but everybody spoke really highly of him. "But it's nothing to do with me what Rangers do. He's now at Hibs and that's it. "We're obviously glad he was still available and we were able to take him on. "He's our player and he brings something different to the squad. He seems to be an impressive player. "The 12-month deal suited both parties and we were happy enough to do that. And it puts him in the shop window, so it's a bit of a marriage of both. "He's just the kind of player we're looking for, and it gives him a chance to express himself and make a big future for himself in the game." Claros is not eligible to play in tomorrow's Scottish Cup clash with Kilmarnock as he awaits a work permit. But, although Fenlon expects communication off the pitch to be a problem to begin with, he has no worries the midfielder will quickly adapt to life on it. And he admits the presence of Emilio Izaguirre at Celtic will also make things easier for him to adjust to life at his new home.
I agree with other posters, never going to be a showpiece game, and not really a game for the likes of Ki, IMO. We will need the hard workers on the pitch for this one.
Forster; Matthews, K Wilson, Rogne, Mulgrew; Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Commons; Hooper & Samaras subs: Zaluska, Stokes, Forrest, Majstorovic & F Twardzik. Ki is out with a dead leg but expected back in a few days.
